Thank you Thomas! Even though I don't drive it everyday, still gets attention!
I am happy to hear that, you put alot og work Into that rig, thumbsup

Not what I wanted to see when I changed the differential oil on the Jeep today. This was in the D35.

#6,765 ·
No kidding, haha. That is my end goal for this coming summer. For today, it is back together as is with some Amsoil Synthetic Fluid. Going to be keeping a close eye on it. Fortunately this WJ is seeing very little mileage currently.

Finished the Job

Finally got to compounding, buffing, and polishing. Overall not bad at all!

#6,768 ·
Thanks man. I am happy with it for a DIY Garage Repair.

Just wanted to keep the thread somewhat active. The Jeep has been running well, as it should with all the maintenance and love it has received. Brother is daily driving it and putting a tenth of the miles on it than I would be so I can not complain too much. There is about 138k on it now where as the Overland in August 2015 had 127k and it is now at almost 141k by the end of April 2016.

This summer, I *might* be able to throw it on long arms... we shall see!

The Laredo is still going strong, at 140k now. Did have an electrical gremlin arise though. This seems to be more complicated than the standard "ground wire broke" in the door jam.

Only the front driver's door lock works.
Only the driver's side front and rear windows work.
The interior lights come on and off normally except for the front passenger door where the Jeep does not recognize the door being open.

I have repaired broken wires in both front driver and front passenger door's before. I will pull the boots and check them again but, it seems like something else is going on.

#6,772 ·
So the passenger door has good ground and seems to have power running to the module, along with a single from the PCI however nothing works. I almost wonder if the passenger door module went out. It is the only door the Jeep will not recognize when it is open.

These door wiring issues can be real buggers. I've seen on some threads about this type of issue where there was a wire broken INSIDE the insulation. This is nearly impossible to spot visually, and would probably yield to a good connection sometimes and not others. I would need to check the wiring diagram for sure but I'd check every wire associated with the door ajar circuit and make sure the insulation doesn't feel like there's any bumps in it or anything indicating possible broken wiring inside the wire jacket. Long shot maybe, but thought I'd offer! Keep us updated!

#6,774 ·
My first guess is that there was a broken wire inside the door jam boot. However upon my first investigation, there is no breaks. I pulled on each wire, hoping that if one was broken or on the way out, I'd feel it. I checked continuity with the ground, most common break, and it is still good.

Fixed the no locks, windows, and lights. The passenger side door switch/module was dead.

Now the remote won't work because that module was the receiver. I knew this going in but, how do I get it reprogrammed, if at all possible? Also the one I pulled was from a 2000 WJ and didn't have an antenna wire.

You need to get the key FOB's reprogrammed. That, or get a remote start. I thought the older WJ's had a short antenna wire inside the module that people made longer to increase the output range.

#6,777 ·
Figured as much.

I have a remote start system sitting in my room. If I can get that to work without reprogramming the original FOB's I should probably just do that.

Python 1400XP, I still need a DBALL too.

#6,782 ·
Yeah I do, finishing up in the spring!

#6,783 ·
Congratulations on your impending graduation. Unless we're dealt a surprise, I am guessing my daughter will be attending in the fall (acceptances are still coming in, but VT is her first choice at this time). Next we're down for a visit, I'll drop you a line.

#6,784 ·
Thank you! I really love Tech, the people and the environment are great. My sister may go there in the fall as well. If you have any questions or anything, feel free to PM me and I can help you out. Go Hokies!

Valve Cover Gasket and Rear Brake Pads today.

#6,786 ·
So this is definitely a bummer with the Photobucket situation. It'll take me a long while to get all the pictures fixed but I plan on doing so.

#6,787 ·
Fixed more broken wires in the door boot. It's ridiculous how many have broken!

#6,788 ·
I had the same thing, thought my drivers side door / window / lock controller went bad and it tuened out to be 2 wires in the door boot also.

Think I got one for the rear drivers window now, just happened this week

#6,789 ·
Long time, but ended up being broken wire on the passenger side door boot.

Crazy how the PCI wire will mess it all up!

#6,790 ·
Holy cow, it has been almost two years! I still have my 04 Laredo and it is doing well!

#6,791 ·
I still have the Jeep and it is doing well! Just have been performing normal maintenance and still rolling down the road!
