Matt and his fancy seats! Just wait to I do an Overland Interior swap! ;)

Here are some pictures. I'm just going to post them, any questions feel free to ask. I know I should have remembered the "measure twice cut once" I did the "measure once cut twice". Oh well, not a "clean" install but it works and functions. Total investment for the base, switches, and wires I had. About ~35 dollars. Not too bad at all!

He got me good on that one! haha! ^

The less electronics, the less that can go bad! Haha!

It would be nice to have power passenger seats but it's definitely not necessary. My wife disliked driving my jeep for the longest time. One night she was driving home and said to me "I hate driving this. I can't even reach the pedals." to which I replied "You do know you can lower the seat don't you?". I'm tall and drive with my seat all the way back and all the way up. She's tiny and her feet would 'hover' when she drove the WJ. Needless to say, now that she can touch the pedals/floor, she likes it!

Oh the glories of power seats!

Having all the adjustment really does make it more comfortable. I am going to have to trim my husky liner some, when the seat is all the way down and all the way back, it gets caught on the rubber liner. No big deal though. My next project is the upgrade the driver's side. I have currently got 4 way power, the rear up/down motor broke so that is no good. IF I can find a great deal on a "10-way" base, I'll get a whole new base, then get the power recline motor which will put me up to 8-way power. I do not know if it is possible to retrofit the power lumbar.

I am still trying to figure out what tire I want to buy over Christmas Break. I have pretty much locked down the size of 255/70-17 (31.06") But that limits the amount of tire choices. There are also a lot of 245/70-17's (30.5")

(255/70-17)
1. Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor A/T's - $832
2. General Grabber A/T 2 - $640
3. Firestone Destination A/T's - $612

Destinations are a nice solid AT, roommate had em but they only lasted 30k for him. Still took a lot of situations well. My ultra-siped Michelin All season (I'm ashamed I know) tear through snow when its packed but next to his in anything deeper or unplowed I'm fish tailing a bit going down the road. ATs will handle the deeper stuff better but sometimes sacrifice siping a bit so choose something that looks good for your taste then look for good siping. Also softer compound tends to wear faster so a faster tread wear rating can often suggest a softer compound. All that being said I've already chosen Grabber AT2s as my next tire if you wanna be my guinea pig for them go right ahead but you can't say I copied you when I get mine! They sit real nice with the WJ and the tread lugs are just the right level of aggressive.

^^^X2, shhh still waiting for them, going on as summer wheels, so dont really need them before spring,
If you Go that route, you Will have to confirm the snow abilities, i know Collorado guys love them, they got fair amount of snow, right?
AND, Go 255!

Another vote for General. Have had experience with two different sets of General tires and have been happy with both. No uneven wear (unlike some other brand i wont mention) and the treadlife is great for the price point. General offers the best bang for your buck when it comes to tires imo.

#5,624 ·
Wish I could offer some advice but I haven't used any of those options. It looks like all 3 of your choices are pretty good though!

#5,625 ·
Keeping all 3 of those choices in mind still! Will keep hunting around and doing Research!

So I bought a "heated" driver side mirror from a Member on JF and it turns out it is also a "auto-dim" because it is "GNTX" on it. Going to have to figure out how to wire that up!

The only real advantage the Silent Armors will have over the Grabbers will be the noise level and the durability of the carcass. In terms of trail traction and snow they are pretty much equals. The Grabbers are pretty well balanced and also attractively priced but the additional noise might bother you.

The Firestone Destination AT are also excellent but I found them a bit lacking in trail traction. I also took some sidewall damage and half-popped a bead running 15psi whereas the Silent Armors at 15psi haven't even come close to having sidewall issues. I would recommend the Destinations over the other two if you weren't going to have any trail time at all. These are the quietest and smoothest of the bunch without a doubt.

Once again, thank you for that great info. I do not see myself being 100% street. There are a lot of local trails around here that are dirt road and some small rocks which are also open enough not to pin stripe the Jeep. Then when it snows, we'll go out and play around. I think the Destination AT's may be out then. Then if the GG and the WSA's are pretty much the same off the road, but the Silent Armors are indeed quieter, then I may have found my #1 choice. Even though price point is a little high.

The auto-dim is driven by the central auto-dimming mirror which has the sensor in it. You'll need that and the harness.
Right, I was reading that the Auto-Dim Mirror (which I have) controls the Auto-Dim Function of the Side mirrors. Now aside from buying the harness, it was proposed that you can run a positive and negative wire from mirror to mirror. I need to do more research and make sure the pin-outs didnt change around from year to year. Because the Pin out on the mirror that I have received, does not match WJJeeps.com wiring diagram.

I hate tire shopping, haha. Thanks you again.

I might be able to get the IRO Lower CA's on this weekend, finally!!!

I hear ya. It's worse when you have to do it in a hurry. I had to quickly help my brother pick out some new tires for his car. That can get frustrating when you have limited options.

That sounds fun! I still need to tinker with mine but I'm taking a well deserved weekend off!

#5,634 ·
I'd go with 245/70R17 or 255/70R17 if you want a little bit taller/wider. I think 245/75R17 is going to be too tall unless you don't mind trimming a little.

I think you should take your jeep to a body shop as have them cut and roll yours fenders and run 33s :)

Yeah let me get the sawzall out and start cutting and making room for 35's! :p I think it should be able to turn 255/70-17's without too much misery.

Jeep was on the "Troll Jeep Troll" mode this morning. Something around 55 it does not like. Either its the tires screwing with me or there is something else. Just caught a little steering wheel back and forth movement during a fairly smooth road. It was a constant motion, didn't seem like it was gonna go full out DW on me but, something that makes me mad! haha

Have you replaced the suspension components you've been talking about for a while? What changed that makes you think the tires are the issue? In my personal opinion, Tires are hardly ever the cause of anny issue except for constant vibrations as in tires out of balance.

I have been very busy this semester with College. In other words no not yet. However, I've got an extensive list of things to do/replace over this coming winter break. I also do have IRO Adjustable lower control arms in my possession. Those are HOPEFULLY going in soon, this weekend. But, I have finals on Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and wedded. I plan having the front upper arm bushings replaced as well.

Everyone has told me that my KOR TB bushings have a normal amount of play.

I also have a slight pop/clunk sounds on turns. It may or may not be the track bar. I also want to weld washers and upgrade the bolt to that thing.

I know at 60-80 mph I have a Jeep-wide vibration that is almost 99% the tires.

#5,640 ·
I hear ya on being busy. I have an ever so slowly growing WJ list that is taking the back burner to my household/winter projects (the wood pile has taken a lot of my time). For instance, I have lately noticed a bit of a wobble in the driver's seat. I'm betting I've got the issue with the mounting system breaking.

Finals. Ugh. I remember those days... Always a pain but rewarding when you're done (especially when you do well). My class just started actually. Professor Hager at your service. Haha.

#5,641 ·
Yeah, the Jeep has gone onto a pretty large back burner through the semester. Thankfully though it has behaved pretty well, because I just do not have time to deal with a major issue. I do believe like AgitatedPancake has said now a dozen times, once I get the front controls arms in, fixing caster, and getting tight new bushings, that the front end should be good to go. Just have not had time to deal with it and because of that it acts up some. (I do apologize to AP because you have told me over and over what to do, I just don't have the time to fix it, yet.)

Are you talking about just being able to move the seat around by pushing on it?

Final blow man, I've got 5 nasty finals. I'll post my list here soon of my intentions of "Jeep Projects" in a theoretical order of importance.

#5,643 ·
Are you talking about just being able to move the seat around by pushing on it?
I feel like the seat has been a wobblin' a little lately. I haven't had even a second to look at it and give it a shake. These last two weeks have been nuts.

Tonight I might have a minute or two to clean up the jeep. If so, I'll give it a shake and see if it's loose. I really wouldn't be surprised if it is - my seat position plus the bumpy roads put a lot of pressure on the mounts.
