So I have print out that I got off of here that says 1.1 qts for a np231, is that right, it just does not seem like it?

What if the box is low on fluid before you drain it?
If the capacity is supposedly 1.1 and you get 1.0 or .9 quarts, then that - to me, at least - is a good indication that the 1.1 number is right. However, I see your point...I wouldn't want to rely on what I drained, exclusively. I was treating it as a number that could corroborate what one already has been told. Thanks for pointing that out!

usually when you fill fluids up on the rear end and tranny, the fluid is comming out of the hole when it is full, not the case here. That is what does not seem right, but I will put in what it calls for and call it good.

Kind of sucky if I recall, the FSM doesn't tell you to change your transmission or transfer case fluid if you have the 5 speed and a 231. Makes you wonder. I might be wrong, but I remember looking though the maintenance schedule and could not find the interval. Changed mine anyways though at about 50k.
