I have one of the Cobra 75 CB installed in my LJ but it's really hard to hear. I want to add a small speaker to the roll bar behind my head. Anyone got any good suggestions on what speaker to get and ways to mount it.

I'm looking for a nice clean look so I don't want one of those big cube's from RS.

Ahh Frys'. Wife doesn't allow me in there with plastic anymore! But I'll have to go check them out. ;) Thanks

Check out the 'Cobra75' link in my sig, I have the same setup and wired in a compact marine speaker right above my head in the corner of the rollbar. Never even notice the thing stashed up there. I can also hear it with the top and doors off on the highway. I have product links and pics in the writeup.

Nice - too bad the link to the speaker at Walcott is no longer stocked.

I was in RS yesterday and they had a 2" external speaker in their CB section. Seems small enough to be out of the way.
I wasn't concerned about size so I went with the 4" and zip tied the bracket onto my roll bar for now. (it fits nicely between my spreader bars on my cage facing down).

Mine is a $10 or 15 unit from Walcott CB, I just ziptied it to the roll-bar.

I don't think it looks that bad. Not real noticable unless you come right up to it. I haven't hit my head on it yet so it seems to work well for me:2thumbsup:

That's the same one I posted a link to; it works great and is quite small.

hey Crashnburn and Jeep06, I was looking at y'alls speakers on RS's site and I had a question. They are saying that those speakers only have like 4 and 5 foot cables. How in the heck did yall mount them on your roll bars with such a short cable? I'm guessing that even the Walcott one's 10 foot cable is gonna be stretched tight where I plan on putting everything...

just wondering...

edit: Ahh I missed that part in your writeup Crash... and extension... gotcha...
