Alright, so everytime i search the max tire size a 29 spline Chrysler 8.25 with a locker can support i always get mixed answers. My question is can the axle handle 35's and a locker with chromoly shafts? Have any of you tried this?

Thanks in adavance

i've heard a 29 spline 8.25 is almost as strong as a 44 and mix in chromoly shafts i think 35's will be no problem. Plus i have read a million times from 8.25 owners who have never had a problem with their 29 spline no matter tire size or locker they are running.

I would run that combo also without any worries. If you do break the axle the best solution is a ford 8.8 out of an explorer, but I think unless you are hard on it the 8.25 will get the job done. I run 32's on the 27 splined 8.25 without issues and have been pretty hard on it.

Ive got 34's on stock 29 spline and its been fine. i dont have a locker though i would think that a locker might be the only thing that would "break down" the 8.25

I have a friend that runs his 29 spline 8.25 with 35s and a locker with no problems, and he BEATS ON IT! Not sure if he has upgraded shafts or not, my memory says no, but with chromoly's you will be fine.

Chromoly's are cheap for the 8.25 also... I would get them the same time as doing gears...

You have a High Pinion D30 and you may have a 29 spline 8.25 if the build was late enough. Only way to know is to pull an axle shaft and count the splines.

That or try to find a BOM (Born On Manufacturer) date and see if the dealership will run the Vin or that BOM and see if it is a 29 spline unit.
