what is the best place to hook a strap to on the front of a 93 zj without tow hooks

Simply hook onto anything you don't like. It will get pulled loose very quickly.

The ONLY safe and secure location to attach a recovery strap on a unibody vehicle is the factory installed or factory style aftermarket tow points that incorporate a frame reinforcement bracket.

Stop by the junkyard and look for some ZJ factory tow hooks. They are easy to remove and will fit on your Jeep.

This. The axle is really about as good a choice as you have with no tow hooks, but you're asking for trouble and I'd be surprised if you could recover something that's buried without bending, tweaking or breaking something.

It is possible to pull it out backwards safely. You'll need a 30' (and only 30') strap, a D-ring and another vehicle (preferably with a winch).

Lay a 30' strap across the back or front of the seat bases (so the seat is in the direction of recovery), over door sills, and down, close doors, forward or backwards out to a shackle/winch hook - try to keep twists to a minimum... pull... that's the long and short of it... your using the 2 strongest points - seat bases and door sills to pull the car...

Now the 30' is the important part, 20' crushes the door sills (angle too narrow) 40' too long - pulls seats out...

Google "Cruse Recovery Method"

Blah, blah, no liability for me when you **** this up.

A tow hitch D-ring. Not on the front, but it's better than the axles...

Being lifted and the capability to get THAT STUCK don't equate.

Im suprised you dont have hooks first before the lift.. lol I got 2 sets at a JY for $40... Sold one here for $65 and put the other on my 5.9.. If you go to a JY make sure you bring some heat with you.. They will only come off with heat because they have blue locktight on them... Most JY's dont allow heat tho so you gatta sneak it in like I did lol

Easy to install in an evening unless your radiator was mounted wrong by the last shop that worked on it (ask me how I know).

As others have said the front axle is about as good as you're going to get without real points. I hauled my zj 20 miles by the front axle when I broke down in the dessert and it was fine, but I was just towing, I wasn't pulling it out of mud or snow.

Will the radiator support work if you have the warn brush guard?

Because the mounts for the guard also use those holes. I can take a pic with the cover off if anyone needs to see the mounts themselves

EDIT: maybe they don't use the same holes but I think they do. Does anyone have a pic on the kor rad sup mounted and where it's mounted to?

On the two front "frame" rails there are two bolt point on the bottom where the stock radiator mount bolts up and two bolt points right above that on the sides of the rails that I think are for the upcountry package tow points, thats where the KOR support mounts. I can take pictures at lunch if thats not enough.

If you have the brush guard could you use the front cross bar as a pul point, or is it not that secure?
It would rip out. It's secured well but the mounts are to thin to be used as a pull point. It's not distributed event enough over enough points of the unibody for me to consider it safe to tow from.
