I will [should be] getting a jeep soon, and I would love to put a system in it.

I would like to see the boxes you guys have.. I would like to keep my back seat.

Thanks, also looking to see boxes from this site..

http://www.just4effect.com/10SUBBOX.htm

They look good, but i dont understand how they fit.

Well its great that you are getting a Jeep!!

This is the box that I am making it will fit right behind the back seat. Rather than $250 it cost me practically nothing because I made it from scraps.

^This one shows the side that will face the back seat...and it also shows the holes for the subs^

^This shows the tailgate side and it also shows the cutout of the tail-gate lock and the stop-light^

The boxes fit right behind the rear seat...and those cutouts are for the tailgate lock, the stop-light, and the tab to make the seat go down.

Hope that this helped!! :cheers2:

i've got a 33 engineering box with 2 10" shallow subs that goes under the seat so you wouldn't see it if i took a picture.... but it sounds pretty damn good

Very nice, I like them alot thank you guys.

I am going to have to start my net setup from the ground up. The setup in my previous car was loud as hell, but to get that loud you need alot of volume. I cant see getting that much volume at all here. Unless I dump the back seat. But with a rag top everything is so easy to steal. I am thinking two, maybe three high powered eights ported behind the rear seat We will see. Just gotta shop around I guess.

you most likely don't want to port a small enclosure, which you will most likely have in a jeep, especially if you manage to get 3 eights to fit, keep it seeled you like the tight bass you'll recieve, in my old car, i had 2 15's in a huge ported boxes and they sounded awesome but when i took my buddies 10 and we ported his small box < 1 cu. ft, it sounded worse. jus my 2 cents.

I'll post a pic of my bro in laws 10" i intalled in his TJ, he bought that one from quadratec for a riduculous amount money.

Here are some quick pics of my subs in the back of the jeep. I know its a YJ but the space is the same.
I used MDMF and it is a sealed box, I have 2 12's in there. And I run 3 amps under my back seat. 1 for each of the subs and 1 for my 6x9's. My system is really loud when I want it to be. I can hear everything great going down the highway with the top and doors off. Which is what I was going for when I built it. Its a 45 min hwy drive to the beach in the summer.

Before I layed the fabric on the box I cut out the letters for Jeep and put them on the wood so that when I glued down the fabric the letters looked raised. I really like the design, I has the cutout for the tailgate hinge as well so that when my tailgate is locked it is secure in place.

I like the raised jeep nice, Im looking at possible new ideas for boxes, I have on downfiring 10, but thinking about going bigger possibly, not sure. However I made my current box out of advantec, marine grade 50 yr osb and then painted with herc. It's not like in mdf where its solid saw dust glued together, but the wood chips like osb however it's not nearly as loose as osb and is water proof and indestructible, with my dad being a contractor I don't really like the quality of mdf and I can get a scrap sheet of advantec for free when it runs $80, however I could throw my box off a building and nothing happen to it, or spray it with a hose, but to each their own. Pic's included

MDF has far greater sound dampening capabilities than plywood. Rather than port the box stuff it with poly fill. Its the stuff thats in stuffed animals. It will trick change the stroke of the cone. Basically it creates pressure in the box making the speaker think its in a bigger box. Also take sound waves into thought. Some speaker setups are too big compared to the interior space. Ever notice some systems sound louder or hit harder with the windows down. You have to have enough cab space for the sound frequency to travel full cycle or it sounds bad. Sometimes less is more.

I don't have a pic, but I put 3 audibahn 12's in the back of my old tj. with the hard top on it was useless without the windows down or top off.

Another thing listen to the other guy on porting. Not all speakers are designed to be ported. some are specifically bandpass. some are sealed, some are ported. some are all, some are only two of the three. Research will go along way here, look into the specs of your speaker. also research crutchfield dot com. they have a ton of info on building your own speaker box

can't go wrong with poly fill its cheap and wrks, you can it pick up at some walmarts or a hobby lobby,or just some sort of fabric store, i'll also vouch for crutchfield being a great site for info.

Here is the box I built for my jeep. I used a single Kicker Comp 10 in vented enclosure with nearly the exact air space Kicker recommends for this sub, about 2.5 cubic ft. including speaker and vent. I mounted the amp recessed in the back of the box for easy access to controls as well as ease of removal if space is needed for a weekend trip. This set up hits so hard you would swear it was a pair of 12's.

View from Front w/ grill off showing 10, notice vent slot on left.

Close up of speaker, it is recessed for protection since box is tight to seat.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't lie to ya bud. I have built custom stereos and competed for a while with my old show truck. I was sponsored by both rockford (which sucks IMO!!) and nakamichi.

Poly fill is the cheapest fix to and sub enclosure to date. It simply works.

naa i wouldn't waste the time remaking it... nice call putting polly in the sound pods didn't even occur to me, im gonna try and put components in em and cut a hole for the tweeter. im trying to find if anyone has done it right now...
