From my manual:

Glove compartment panel

19: On 1993 through 1995 models, open the glove compartment door and remove the screws to the relay center cover, which gives access to the screws securing the glove box hinge to the instrument panel. Remove the screws and take off the panel surrounding the glove compartment, if necessary for access in other repair work.

20: On 1996 through 1998 models, open the glove box and remove the screws that attach the glove compartment "bin" or liner, then remove the glove box hinge screws.

21: On 1999 and later models, open the glove box and push in on the sides with both hands, until the sides clear the stop bumpers and the glove box can come down fully.

22: The glove box hinges on 1999 and later models are attached to the instrument panel with pins, rather than screws. With the glove box door down, grasp both ends of the door and rock it side-to-side to loosen it from the hinge hooks. Then lift the door to a more vertical position and twist it counterclockwise. With some twisting, the door will come loose from the hooks, but don't use excessive force.

23: Installation on all models is the reverse of removal.​

There's 2 plastic/rubber tabs you need to remove to let the glove box swing all the way down. You're kind of removing/installing them w/o seeing them but below is a good video on removing them.

It's another engineering idea that the college educated idiots at Jeep came up with!

 

you can pull them 'out', but i think to get them back in you have to line them up with the slot they go in and slide them in... kind of like a dovetail fitting.
last time i took them off... it took about 30 minutes to get them back in since you can't see what you are doing and there isn't much room for your hand.

cold today but i tried,no luck. and youre right ,hard to touch with my big hands,felt no movement at all but i dont know which way?,back down?
ill wait for warm wx...

You can use a mirror to see the slots. It's tricky, but if you know the pattern, it takes about a minute a piece to put them back on. They slide on and off easily. It took me 20 minutes to get the first one on and the second one took about 30 seconds.

 

I can’t get mine back on for love nor money! Lol

The glove box is closed and off limits until I sort myself out.... grrrr

 

ibased on info here if i get them off ill toss them and hook up a string...

 

maybe try a velcro strip on the front up to the dash ... hah!

 

And the same piece of duck tape will stick over and over, and over... Lol.

Not sure if all those glove box rubber stops are the same but the below photo from the blendorstore shows them just being twisted counter-clockwise out of the way rather than completely removing.

 

Thats what mine looks like as well. ^

First time took me 5-10 min getting used to pulling them out.

Now that I'm familiar with the setup I can pull them and put them back in under a minute
