I just bought this 48 qt. Igloo cube cooler for camping. The size is nice for the back of my TJ. Hopefully it will work good enough for for short trips.

The Coleman Xtreme coolers are better than your average cooler (I have two of them). I have no experience with the Yeti cooler and probably never will because I dont think myself or anyone else that I know will ever own a $300 cooler. But as far as keeping ice the longest, the basic orange GOTT 5 gal. water cooler by far keeps ice longer than anything else I've tried. We keep our food in them. A plate can be used the keep food up above the ice/water to keep it dry.

Not sure what brand I have but it is one that plugs into the cig lighter. If I let it get cool before I use it, back it with cold/frozen food and run it off the cig lighter on the way to my destination I can go a while without ice. This allows me to pack more food. Once I have eaten a meal I will have room for ice. If I have electricity when I get to my destination my cooler has an A/C converter and I can plug it in. It doesn’t work as good as a frig. If it is real hot I use ice and plug it in. It will keep the ice frozen longer than just using a regular ice chest.

I can also use it to keep things warm, never don’t that so I don't know how good it works.

I bought a 12v fridge a couple years ago and it is perfect.
It will work for 3+ days on one battery, I keep mine in the Jeep year round.
Long as you drive it daily it hasn't killed the battery yet.
They're costly but you'll be glad when your food isn't filled with water & you don't have to run outta the woods for ice.

Paid $695 for mine new..... Engel 12 Volt AC/DC Fridge and Freezers From Everything SUV

Sorry to revive this thread, but I was looking to see if anyone had anything innovative that was Jeep specific, and I haven't seen anything yet. We have a nice Yeti cooler we use on the boat, and I'm thinking of getting another for camping.

I have the Coleman cooling only 12v it woks extremly well almost freezes beer . I know other guys at work that have them but if you don't have a good batt. it will kill your batt. in 13 hrs. I know this cuz we were on 12hr shifts and my buddy parked beside me at Koch chemical and I ended up boosting him after my cooler ran for 13 ..... his sears batt. ! I have an old Coleman steel cooler that I wouldn't trade for anything. Like I said, it's old, so they may not be made as well anymore. That thing has been on more camping/road trips than I could put a number on. It's beat up, scratched up, and covered in stickers from around the country and it's a great cooler. I've packed fish in ice while camping and if packed properly they'll be almost frozen by the time I get them home. I once had to chip a fresh salmon fillet out of it three days later. Mine also came with an insulated cover which actually does help on hot summer days. When my family comes to visit, I usually have a big spread of food and drinks. I fill that cooler up with beer, sodas, water, and one 25lb bag of ice. As usual I go overboard and have a lot left over. If I keep the insulated cover on it on my back porch, I can grab an ice cold soda or beer for the next week. Then again, it all may be a nostalgia thing and I just won't accept that my cooler might just suck.
