So, I am pretty sure my fuel pump is done.
Parked (on an incline) after long roadtrip and car would not start a few days later (only cranking). Checked fuel rail pressure, and nada. Cycle ignition and still nothing. Fuel pump relay seem to be doing its job. Could not find any dedicated fuses for the pump (are there any?), so my only guess is that the sender unit is dead.
It makes sense, because the vehicle has 378k km on the clock and have always been somewhat slow to start (needs to crank a few seconds).
Question is, what pump should I get? I would never get a sup-par quality part for this replacement and see RockAuto have a few different options.
A complete fuel pump assembly from Bosch runs $155 (PN 67649) and the corresponding Delphi (PN FG1043) unit is $94. The Delphi pump alone is fifty bucks. Alternatively, I can get a Walbro 255 high(er) performance aftermarket unit for $70 (don't know the extent of modification needed or if it's feasible in terms of flow rates/specs).
Which option does this esteemed forum propose?
