Who has a Transgo 45rfe-hd2 shift kit in their Grand? Looking at getting one when I change fluid soon and was really curious as to what people think of em. I know that it improves trans/clutch life because of less slip between shifts, but what about other things. Does it "hit hard" in traffic?

summit has em for like $56 and for that price it's kinda hard to pass up. The kit is labeled 45rfe-hd2 and Transgo says that will work in the 545rfe as well.

If you look at the write it doesn't look hard at all. I'm actually curious as to if it can be installed without taking the valve body out.

I did the free 545RFE shift kit. :D

There is a program in the PCM called torque management that cuts back power when shifting to make the shifts smoother.

If you snip that wire, it eliminates this function and makes it shift normal at light throttle, but when you get on it, it shifts quicker.

Here is some more info:

I recently installed this kit as well as a new Solenoid pack and love the way it shifts. Shifts nice and smooth under normal throttle. Apply a little more gas and it delivers a more "positive" shift. Quickens the shift all around.
