So I am getting my front seats reupholstered on the wj. its a 2002 and they said they could do the heater elements while they were apart. They called the dealer and got a quote of 275 for the heater elements for one seat. Pretty outrageous but they said I can bring in after market brands and they can install that. I can't seem to find anything else with this. I looked everywhere and noticed the dorman one is out of stock and am curious if anyone knows where else to get one. Thanks!

Back in the day I considered adding heating elements to the back seats of mine. I was just looking at universal kits online but I would think most reupholstery shops could manage to make them work. Interested in seeing where this goes as I think my drivers heating element might be on the way out sometime soon.

Figures these seat heaters would get scarce. Know nothing about these Dorman seat heaters (back) which are used but like new for $17 w/Prime. Sounds like mainly damaged packaging.

Not sure about your 02 but the above fits the back of the front seat on my 04.

Sure are some rip-off artists out there and below is the bottom seat heater with bolsters with price of $165 which is only $125 more than the $40 it cost last year!

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I saw those on amazon as well, I am also curious about the back one and curious if it would work in my wj. I suppose I can check the connectors and see if it would work, And yeah that $165 I figure is because it’s their last one and no one else seems to have them. Trying to figure out if I want to spend that money. Also in response to just grabbing some seats from another wj, I got a great deal from this shop to replace the bottoms on the front seats and they will be brand new and refoamed, should last another 150,000 Miles

So the upholstery shop gave me my broken heater element and I saw a main wire broke and it looks fixable and i am curious if there is a way to over engineer the wiring there to make it more robust. I have 14 gauge heater wire that is wrapped in nylon for heat resistance. Seems I could use the seat heater as the elements all look intact accept for the one wire. Has anyone done a fix like that. I saw one guy on here did something similar but idk how long it has held up

If you don't mind me asking, what's the cost of the reupholster? I need to do my front 2 seats (especially the driver) and have no clue what that should run.

I was just going to ask this same question. HA! I need to remove my Driver's bottom cover and do new foam. Possibly repair seat pan as bad as this feels. I will do some more research but thinking I can just purchase bulk foam and build my own. The only shop that has gotten back with me regarding their price to do the job was $285. That is no cover, just rebuilding the foam. OUCH!

My neighbor across the street from me repairs/rebuilds vehicle and boat seats for a living. On adding to or replacing foam I've seen him use an electric carving knife like some use for carving a turkey. It seems to work real well for shaping foam and he makes it look easy. I have no idea on pricing.

Well surprisingly enough my upholstery place was able to order the seat covers from the dealer. They were 200 a piece for the bottoms which is what wore or out my wj as the drivers side always does. New material seems to be nicer than what was originally in there. They also refoamed the seats and wow that was noticeable. Cost me 500 totally for the front.

Seat Cover from Dealer

@Bassfisher

Out of curiosity, today I called my Jeep Dealer and asked about new leather skins for my front seats < Build Sheet states: TL Lux Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats, DB Dk/Lt Slate Gray >. The dealer stated "They are no longer supplied by MOPAR". :crying2:

Just curious how your dealer was able to order your new leather....??..

I do not mean to hijack your thread, my apologies, but, since you are talking about heated seats in a WJ I have a question that someone here might know the answer to. Mine is a `99 GC Laredo and is does NOT have heated seats :( but, I can get great deals on them all the time at the junkyard so. my question is, does MY WJ have existing wiring for heated seats to allow for plug and play ??? Or would there be a lot more to it to put heated seats into mine ?? Thanks in advance.

The place I went to was merrillville glass. Used them on the last car I owned for a complete Chevy upholstery overhaul. They are good. All I did was go there and ask them to replace the front seat cover. I thought they were more pricy on my Jeep than my other truck but still seemed like a good deal. I believe she actually called schepel and they had some already made and in stock. It may vary depending on location with available stock. She was surprised they had it none the less.

Also answering the heated seats question, if the Jeep didn’t come stock with heated seats it may not have the connection however if your seats are powered they may have the plug under the seat for the elements. If not you’ll have to buy your own universal kit and wire in some stuff. I ended up for mine finding some gm seat elements that fit perfectly and had to splice some wires to the old connector from the oem element and it works great, it was a dorman
