Does anyone know where the ground for the instrument cluster is located on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee?? I've searced all under the dash and cannot find it. Any pics?

Also, does anyone know where I can find (or could post) the ground distribution diagram?

I have the dreaded nobus error and have checked EVERYTHING!! If I can't find it tonight, I'm going to resort to bringing it in to Jeep tomorrow.

Thanks!:tea:

I've been troubleshooting this issue for a year now and that is the first thing I checked. I've checked and cleaned the connectors like 5 times now. Not it. I'm guessing there's a ground issue.

Back to the topic at hand, does anyone know where the instrument cluster ground is located under the dash?

Great write up. I found that and followed it, EXCEPT I still couldn't locate the ground under the dash. I think that write up was written for older XJ's. I have a 2000.

I agree. That post couldn't be more thorough. My only problem is I can't find any wire whatsoever under the driver side dash bolted or screwed to anything that would constitute ground! I know I have a bad ground by the behavour of my stereo in conjuction with other electronics, windows, turn signals etc. but I can't find the damn thing! Any input would be appreciated.

The most likely cause of stereo/power window/power lock issues is a short circuit in the driver door wire harness.

The most likely cause of turn signal issues is corrosion in the blinker bulb sockets, wire harness and/or ground connection issues behind the spare tire, or a failed turn signal/multi-function switch on the steering column.

Both problems are very common.

Actually, the instrument cluster is grounded at G108 (see pic) that is buried behind the left side of the dash. G107 is circled in the pic for another issue someone had.

I doubt that the ground at G108 is your issue for a NO BUS.

If you want, you can check that ground and power to the instrument cluster but you'll have to remove the instrument cluster again to do it.

Here's the IC C1 and C2 pinouts. You can see which pin cavities bring power to the cluster and the pin cavity for the ground.

Powere is from the IOD fuse in the PDC and fuse F9 in the JB. You might want to check these fuses before doing anything else.

There have been NO Bus issues, as well as other odd issues, attributed to bad grounds in the engine bay. Here's the ground points you should disassemble, clean, and reattach secxurely

Take a close look at CCKen's pic of the dash. The C100 connector is mounted to a u-shaped piece of steel. I had virtually constant no bus issues until removing the screws from the C100 mount and wire wheeling the paint off them.

I don't know if anyone is still dealing with this situation. I just had my friends 2000 Cherokee with the same no buss and no gauge problem. He has owned the Jeep for over a year and done many long trips. The problem started yesterday morning, tried everything suggested above working into the night, after trying a few items turned the headlights on to see if gauges started working. Everything went off including the radio. Sometime before he purchased the Jeep someone had disconnected the main chassis ground at the battery (small cable to fender). Reattached the ground and everything started working correctly. Decided to clean all grounds in the engine compartment (per above photos of engine compartment grounds even though none were dirty). Also we added a ground wire from the headlight/relay ground to the chassis ground as we noticed the headlight brightness change when messing with the grounds. I am not sure why the problem started now but the ground was definitely the issue.
