Long story less long...

My drive belt squeals. Tensioner bolt is not where it's supposed to be. Found a part number here on the forums after an extensive search. Ordered part number 6503198 from the dealer just to find out it isn't for the 2.5 YJ, it's for the TJ.

Brute strength yanking up on the power steering pump while tightening bolts doesn't help. Still squeals.

I can't find the right part number anywhere on the Internet. Auto zone, Napa, and O'Reilly don't have what I need. Local salvage yards aren't helpful.

Please help me jeepforum!!!

At 1:15 he points to the bolt and says "That's your adjuster."

That's the bolt I need. I just picked up the Jeep and didn't know the bolt was missing until I went to make an adjustment for the squealing belt. I have no idea how long it's supposed to be. I don't know how it assembles in there. What does it push against to make it tighter?

I have part numbers 6503198 (the bolt) and 53010149 - but it turns out they are for the 2.5L engine in the TJ.

This should be a real simple fix, but it's becoming complicated and frustrating!

I think that the adjuster bolt that you are missing threads into the little threaded nut / fitting that he points to at 1:07. When the fitting nut is loose on the bracket and you turn the adjuster bolt it pushes or pulls the fitting (and the entire pump unit) depending on which way you are turning the adjuster bolt. So you have to have both the adjuster bolt and that fitting to make it all work. Hope that helps!

I figured I'd close the loop on this one for someone that runs into the same issue i did.

The bolt in question is part number 34202480. It is discontinued, but if you can locate one through the dealer network it costs $22.75 + shipping. Expensive bolt! It is number 15 in the diagram below.

The collar/nut thing that the bolt threads through is part number 53002915. It is readily available and costs $16.20. It is number 14 in the diagram below.

I also put a tape measure to the actual bolt so that you could just go down to your local hardware store and find a bolt that does not cost more than dinner at KFC.

I hope this info helps someone in the future. It was a major pain in the *** for me!!!

Junk yards are full of 2.5 and 4.0's that have that stuff. My local one wouldn't let me pay for it
