That is all, are they a direct swap from say a JU? I.e 5.9 Darango . dodge ram swapped into my Jeeposuras
X2 , here's a pic of a dodge Ram 46 RE , note the starter below the exhaust manifoldnope, jeep starters are passenger side and dodge starters are driver's side. the only 46re you can use is a jeep one.
No, the 42RE was only behind the 4.0's. The 93-95 5.2's had a 46RH, 96-98 5.2's have 44RE's and ONLY the 98 5.9 used the 46RE.So the ZJ 42RE used behind the 4.0 is the same 42RE used behind the ZJ 5.2 and 5.9?
Thanks ratmonkey and NewfieZJ.X2 , here's a pic of a dodge Ram 46 RE , note the starter below the exhaust manifold
That is how it all started, I did have that slip between 2-3 for a long time. However, I think I f-ed up with trans breather relocation., because symptoms became increasingly worse After a Rousch Creek Trip ,which was a 3.5hr trip to the park each way. still not sure. What's wrong with your 46RE? Mine is starting to act up and I think it might have a slip between 2 and 3.
Take a look at an auto tranny sometime and you'll see the answer to that rather plainly.sorry to bring up an old thread, but would a dodge 46re work with the jeep 44re or 46re bell housing?
This brings up a question for you guys. I recently purchased a bone stock 98 ZJ Laredo with 130k on it. Build date on the door is 5-98. It was never wheeled, I don't think is ever saw a dirt road! Went to change the tranny filter today and the 42RE filter is the wrong one. Filter I took out is a mopar part # 52118789. That would make me think the tranny is the 46RE not the 42RE. Did I mention the ZJ has the 4.0!! Am I missing something or has anyone else come across a 98 or any other year Jeep with the 4.0 and aNo, the 42RE was only behind the 4.0's. you might want to bring that up with the parts clerk and ask him why he gave you the wrong one .This brings up a question for you guys. I recently purchased a bone stock 98 ZJ Laredo with 130k on it. Your logic is flawed, the 42RE, 44RE, 46RH, and 46RE all share the same filter. It is a 98 ZJ with a 4.0
The first filter was for a 98 ZJ with a 4.0 and it was the wrong one.
The second filter is for a 98 ZJ with the 5.9 and it was the correct one.
