Tomorrow i want to replace my fuel filter, in the FSM it says to release fuel pressure by using a gage and.... by i don't have any thing like that and don't want to buy it just for a fuel filter. How important is this step? i was thinking i could just take the fuel pump relay out and crank it a couple times so all the remaining pressure is shot out from the injectors would this work? How does the quick connectors work on the fuel lines going in and out of the filter?
Also any idea how much i should expect to pay for one?
Thanks for Your Input:2thumbsup:

It's an inline filter, so it's like 2 bolts and 2 connectors. Have a glass bottle handy to drain the gas into, as the lines/filter will still have gas in them. It's really a 10-minute job. Be thankful you don't have the in-the-tank filter the later models do! The filter is directional, so make sure you've got the arrow pointing in the direction of fuel flow.

Yup, it's a 10mm...he's right...and the connectors...squeeze em together, then pull the clips away...you will get some fuel spill so try not to lie directly under the filter...

When the new one goes in, just make sure the directions is correct, there should be a wee arrow on the filter itself showing direction of flow.

An oil drain pan works best, you'll have fuel coming from 4 different places. Disconnect the hoses and let each of them drain. Then remove the 10mm bolt and dump the filter into the pan. If you try to do it all at once you'll have a mess.
