New member here (and a standard one at that so I can't do the advanced seach) with what seems like a slight overheating problem or so I think.
In my 2012 Pentastar I rarely seen coolant temps getting over 194* especially in the winter even while idling. And even after a long highway cruise oil temps never got more than 188*.
However just today I noticed the coolant temp shooting up all the way to 217* and oil temp hitting 200*. Now as a car enthusiast I know that those temps are perfectly fine and there's not going to be any damage done to the engine, but part of me wonders why all of a sudden that would happen when it's still freezing temps outside.
I drove around a bit with the heater on full blast and I was able to control the temperature, and when I parked the car and popped the hood I noticed the cooling fan wasn't on even with it the coolant being at 203*. My other car I have the fans programmed to come on with the tstat at 186*, so I was wondering when do the fan comes on for the WK2 Pentastar so I can keep an eye on it that it does indeed turn on.
And if it doesn't, does that usually mean a blow fuse/relay or worse a fan motor? Are those easy to replace?
