Excellent news! Id really like to do the same to mine but my signal housings are required to mount my new headlights since the header panel for crunched in the accident

EDIT: My brain isnt braining today. The inner side 1 inch of extra clearance.

My head hurts. Im trying to sell the Ion alloys i got for my build as my taste has changed.
2016 JKUR
wheel is 7.5 inches wide with a 45 mm offset

Ion alloy 171-7973MB
Wheel is 9 inches wide with a 0 offset

The calculator says the new wheel will sit 1.02 inches further in and 2.52 inches further out. If the wheel is 1.5 inches wider...where did the rest of the inches come from?

I've been searching for a Thule crossbar & foot kit that works on the niner roof rails for a long time, not willing to pay the 300$(ish) the kit costs new - never found 'em on ebay or local market platforms for a good price.

Today googling for the part numbers once again, I realized that a vehicle I had about 20 years ago used the same roof rail foot for the crossbars - I had bought the foot and bars new in 2004 along with two Thule bike racks to carry my DH bike and trail bike. I sold the vehicle in late 2006 and bought my first XJ, in which I couldn't use the Thule setup I had.

I wasn't sure if I had sold the foot pack during all these years, so after my workday I went to check the garage shelf and after a while found a dusty box - it was the Thule 755 kit I needed. Luckily my brothers' bike rack setup was also stored in the garage (he's been using my crossbars and bike racks with his own vehicle- specific foot for years), so I could measure the cross bars and do a test fit. They fit perfectly.

These are rated for ~220lbs. (100kg) load, and I can assure they easily support that weight at highway speeds or on bumpy roads - unlike OEM 5.9 cross bars which collapse/ fold WAY before their specified load limit of ~150lbs.
I guess this is one of those "better late than never"- occasions. Having bought my first niner in July 2010 and cursing the pathetic OEM roof bars since day one - and I've had the correct kit in the garage all these years 😂

I did a dumb thing today not unusual for me haha anyway I thought I would touch up some light body rust on top of my ZJ I started with some rust inhibitor that I was suppose to use in small quantities in the effected area which I was a little more liberal than anticipated as I was working my way around I noticed the single layer paint job with no primer. The paint was bubbling up. So I went full stop got some soap and washed the whole Jeep. fortunately I only lost most of the paint on the roof. I ain't no painter especially large scale I don't know what I am going to do about it yet. The roof rack is in the original condition I received the jeep in, haven't had need to fix it.

Light load test was performed, lashings tightened as hard as I could. Crossbars did not fold like a taco. Actually, they did not bend at all. Driving excessively fast over speedbumps caused zero issues with crossbars or feet.

OEM crossbars would've failed when tightening the lashings. Leaving lashings loose enough to not bend bars (causing a non-secure load), they would've failed at the first bump, also often causing at least one feet to dislodge from the roof rail. I know this because I've tried way too many times. There's a good reason why I bought a trailer years ago.

I won't be using my trailer as often from now on.

I used to haul all sorts of stuff on Thule bars on my E46 wagon. Ordered some fencing from from the home improvement store, went to pick it up, they said "hope you brought a truck." I said "Nope! I have a wagon with a roof rack!" And I loaded it up no problem.
