I did a search, but most of the waterproof stereo threads are over 10 years old. Lots of Bluetooth and other features on current stereos since then. I’m needing a good waterproof stereo for my CJ5. Any recommendations? Looking for a simple AM FM with an adapter to plug in my iPhone. Waterproof water resistant is what I’m looking for. My last stereo lasted 2 years. Got rained on probably 5 times, POS.

Maybe invest in a Bikini top when you find and buy a new radio. At least a Bikini top will keep the rain off most of the dash.

A waterproof radio may not exist but at least a water resistant unit can be found at places that supply marine radio accessories.

Or put the radio in a different location.
I have room in my center console for a radio. And it locks !!

My Suzuki Samurai had a plastic cover over the radio to keep the water off it.
You could probably get a milk canister and cut it in half to make a cover for the radio.
Or, if you know someone who has a 3D printer, print a shield.

I'm going thru my jeep 'again'.

One of my plans is an overhead console. It will hold the radio and CB. I have 2 bars in the center that make a perfect parking spot for them. I'm in the process of making a SS cover for the top. The radios will tuck up between them. I already have the holes in the bar to run wiring.

I have a West Marine stereo enclosure. Stereo Weather Enclosure | West Marine The one I bought last year was about half the price of this one, but is very similar. An added benefit is that it covers the oversized and badly cut hole in the dash a PO made in the dash.

My half DIN stereo removes from the front with a stereo tool. After the stereo is removed everything else can be removed. The door of this enclosure flips up and the grab bar prevents it from fully opening, but so much you can use the stereo. Thus it is a security enhancement too.

Most marine grade decks assume the back stays dry and the face needs to be splash and rain proof.
I haven’t had a stereo in my Jeep for 15 years, but I had made an aluminum shroud that created a little “tent” so any water coming in behind the dash wouldn’t kill the radio.
worked until I a wave got into the cabin and got up under the stereo during a creek crossing in which I turned the tub into a bathtub lol.

My windshield/cowl gasket was a little suspect when I'd go out to the lake, and a few times when the water was splashing hard on the windshield (from doing donuts while slingin' mud), my stereo got dripped on and shorted out. Fortunately, I shut it off before any real damage happened, but once things dried out again, all was good. That JVC cassette deck has been an absolute trooper - still cranks and hasn't eaten a single tape since '95 when I first bought it. (It's getting updated with the USB/BT unit I linked to above, though).

Can’t wait to get my cage back out!!
I’m going through mine as well- well at least I have formally declared it, not that it’s much different than just trying to keep her on the road as a daily lol.
im adding a back half family cage for the boy, general mechanical run through and she’s gonna get painted again.

I drive my Jeeps open and those cowl seals leak so the chances are high the top of the radio gets wet. I buy cheap second hand units and tape up the top side. When they eventually fail, toss out for a new one. in an open Jeep they are prone to being stolen, so why bother spending $$$.

But the great advance has been bluetooth speakers. Now I can just play it from my phone.
