I have a 1976 CJ-5 with an AMC 360 hooked to this unknown transmission and Dana 300 to a ford 9" rearend.. I'm running 36" TSL Boggers and have 6 inches of lift.. I pulled the tranny due to it popping out of 2nd and grinding going into third,, it is a 3 speed manual trans.. I'm hoping someone will help me identify what type is it,, the only numbers on it are C-CU-OU and the numbers 2603347.... HELPPPPPPP... thanks..

You may be right,,

I'm going by the info I rec'd from the previous owner,, and after getting the info that the tranny was a T-150 I researched and found out that that tranny won't fit up with a dana-300.. I'll try to dig some numbers from the transfer case but the dana-20 sounds more like it.. THanks..

Just a note, the T-150 is not a light duty tranny. It's way lot better than ANYTHING except the t-18 they put in the CJ's in their last decade. A hell of a lot stronger than anything the YJ's ever had.

Most people assume if a tranny has only 3 gears it's a light duty tranny and it's not. It's a great road tranny behind a V8. It realy has poor gear choices for offroad but it's the same ratios the T-18a except for the creeper 1st gear.

They also use brass syncros and guess what. GL-5 attacks brass syncros so it's not suprising to see a lot of syncro failures now a days.

After pressure washing the transfer case I found this number C18-19-66,,, I checked the Novak website and it doesn't show this as being a Dana-20,,, Any Ideas??????????
Don't mean to sound like a jerk, but buy a manual. It will not only help you identify various parts of your Jeep, but give sound advice on some simpler repairs.
