I have the positive wire hooked up to the starter from the tj loom but there is another wire that could be a starter wire part way down the loom that the actual positive starter wire is,

Since i don't have the. 4.0 in the jeep any more i an having trouble with what the wire goes to but it is hot.

I also dont have the starter for the 4.0 so i don't remember if it had a plug connector for the small post or a wire went to the small post in starter solenoid, the wiring diagram says it should be a brown wire I just need to find out if it goes to a plug or i need to splice, i think this will solve my starting issues from the key and get me running this week.

I tracked down wiring diagram and have large red six guage wire on big post and brown wire on small post

I jumped a wire from pink black wire on relay in pdc and it turns over but when I try key I have nothing

I am wondering what all has to be hooked up to allow ignition to work is there some neutral switch I am missing ?

it was an automatic. I got novak to do my new harness and I haven't done anything to the original jeep harness other than unplug everything to remove motor and transmission. I have everything reinstalled with new motor and tranny and have fluids almost done. I will be ready to drive by the end of the week, but i am having a few gremlins in the wiring.

I haven't put a tester on the brown wire yet with someone holding the ignition. when i get to the office in the morning i'll do that.

it should be something really simple according to my primitive understanding of electronics. I haven't changed anything with the starter wiring from when it was a jeep motor. It still gets power from battery and the key allows power to flow through solenoid. It won't matter if the chevy computer is hooked up or not because it is a jeep only system regarding cranking power. I am assuming that there is something i have missed in the jeep wiring or a fuse i need to remove in the jeep wiring in order for the vehicle to crank.

All jeep plugs are unplugged that would have gone to the old motor and transmission. I have reattached transfercase plugs. I don't have the fuel pump plugged back in yet. I am just not familar enough with the jeep system to determine if it is the fuel pump plug being unplugged or something to do with a transmission plug or just need to remove some fuse.

i agree that it will need to be bypassed or will need to be wired into the gm computer if it would send the signal to tell it that the neutral was done. bypass would be easier ... i am not sure how to do it. I assume i can just jump a wire from on of the poles to the other on the wiring harness connector so it thinks it is getting what it needs. I hope somebody has already done this and i can find some way to guide me in the right direction

I found it I believe on main wiring connector for the transmission. The question is what to jump it you are looking at the connector. Anybody who has done this any help would be greatly appreciated
