Good evening,
I have a 2001 cherokee that just snapped the serpentine belt and now it wont start after replacing the belt. The belt is <1 year old - what are common items to check that would cause it to seize? Thank you. I'm hoping I dont need to take it to a mechanic.🤞🤞

what motor? you've likely knocked a wire or wires loose, when the belt went south. take the belt back off, and try to turn the various pulleys by hand. pay attention to the waterpump, and tensioner. if you feel the belt locked and burnt off, the pulley should have a burn mark on it, and be frozen. sometimes belts just break. if my ride threw or broke a belt, i'd be all over the front end, before i tossed a new one on. :twocents:

Any noise or roughness when you spin the pulleys indicates a worn out bearing. I had a water pump on a Willys that wobbled a little but when I took it off and spun it sounded like a wagon wheel on a cobbled street, looked original.

As said it has probably upset something, the engine can start without any of that equipment being driven by the belt.
