Finally figured out what the SRS code on my Wj was. Gonna go this weekend to the junk yard see if I can pull one out.

Are the front impact sensors from the WJ gen the same 1999-2004. Also are the sensors interchangeable from left to right?

Just pull the airbag module from an '04 if it's available.

It gets rid of the impact sensors that are mounted on the front bumper. If you hop on WJJeeps.com you'll find the TSB with details.
Fyi you may wanna recheck that... according to parts cross referencing from rockauto. Pre 02 GCs dont have impact sensors, 02-04 do.

I read up on it. But honestly, if you are into junk yard diving for parts the impact sensor is much easier to pull and cheaper to get. Trying to fish at a local junkyard for an Airbag SRS Module from a post july 03 manufactured 04 model year is.... like finding a needle in a haystack, not to mention more costly.

I think the module "conversion" or switch iver route works better for someone involved in a colision who needs to replace airbags, and other SRS components in a bid to reduce costs cus hell... your gonna have to program all that but really I fail to see the practicality there.

First you have to have the SRS/Airbag system scanned with a scanner that is capable of doing so. You can go to your local parts store and buy a code scanner with SRS code scan and erase capability, they are not cheap. Or you can go to any local reputable repair shop or dealership and have them diagnose the problem, cheaper. Airbags are a pain because even if you repair the problem by yourself the light wont go away. It must be cleared by a scanner, no way around it. Your wjbis different from mine so my problem wont be the same as yours so unless you have more info I cant comment on your problem. But if you have recemtly been involved in some sort of collision where airbags went off you will have a problem that should be addressed. Dont risk driving arpund in a car where the airbags are not working

To elaborate a little on my story with this issue....

I bought the car recently. I knew what I was getting myself into because I scanned the jeep with my scanner and meticulously inspected the jeep. Airbag light was on, ABS too but I scanned the codes and based on the overall condition I felt that for the price the car was worth buying regardless of its issues.

Easily pinpointed and fixed the ABS problem with my personal scanner but the SRS was difficult. The problem was my scanner could not give me a definition for the code. It gave me SRS code 65 open circut. Tried searching the forum and the internet for answers but no luck. Then tried calling up body shops to have them diagnose the problem, unbelievably all the local shops I called admitted that they did not have the scanners neccessary to diagnose the problem, hell. After trying and trying I was refered to an independent mechanic who was subcontracted for SRS work and he kindly did me the favor of hooking up to my car and giving me the code free of charge. From there I went to my local junk yard and pulled the sensor from a non crashed vehicle, installed it on mine and successflly cleared the code with my scanner.
