Hey there,

The wrangler is a 99 with about 170k miles on it. There is a good size crack that could be welded up but I'm wondering if I should just replace it. It's aftermarket and not an oem part. Thanks

Guys! I know this topic has been covered a lot....I've read most of the threads.
But..... Other than the 2 part, later model, factory manifold, is it essential to go with expansion "flex" tubing?

I've read lots of positive reports on the APN Exhaust Manifold. APN is now "ineedparts.com"
Would you shy away from this one because no expansion joints??
I like that they list the grade of steel used.... and, of course, all the good reports I've read.

1aauto.com lists the same manifold mentioned in post #3 (one digit part # away) for $30.00 less, w/o the lifetime warrantee. Correct Adam??

I hear you. Probably right.
But my 98 (new to me) has an after market manifold with expansion joints AND it has cracks! Don't know how long it has lasted..... obviously a few yrs, based on the rust level.
Also, I read about some 2 pc manifolds cracking.

Maybe a few yrs is as good as it gets on the straight 6 cylinder head.
I know the Cummins 5.9L had the same problem till 2001 when they put serious metalurgy redesign work into their exhaust manifold.

I'm about to buy again..... any other opinions for 'MrRage' and me?

I ordered the one from 1A auto, they were great to deal with, and I got the flex one as shown in the link provided. It came with a gasket. I really hate to say its been fine, because I will shure develop a leak now. BUt so far so good. Installed it a year ago.
