Hey guys, another easy question for anyone whose done this before.
Im in the process of changing a 4.0 liter from a 99 cherokee with an auto tranny in it, to work in my 99 wrangler with a manual trans. My front end (belt driven end) is squared away, all peaches there, been there done that.
I am concerned about the difference between my old engines crankshaft end looking different, almost as if it has a larger bushing or spacer around the bearing, to hold the pilot bearing inside of it. I have no idea if Im seeing things, because of the engine rack being in the way of my old one, or if I actually am missing a bushing or something.
you can clearly see a difference, as my new one (not on the engine rack, it has the flywheel on it.) has nothing inside of that crankshaft boring where the bearing is supposed to go, and if I go putting it all the way back in that smaller hole, it looks like it will be entirely too far back for the main shaft to actually slide into.
My kit came with a bushing and a bearing... as seen in the pic. My initial thought was that the bushing was used to drive the pilot bearing into the hole, but I don't think thats the case... what is that thing? ( sorry guys, Clutch kit came with an AWESOME installation manual. So awesome in fact it wasn't even in the box.)
I do apologize for the old engine having such a poor view, that was the only way I could get a good view of it with out unbolting it and pulling it away from the rack.
What am I missing? If anything???
