I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some easy instructions on replacing the MAP Sensor on my 4Liter 2003 Wrangler. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

From the FSM for removal
4.0L
An L-shaped rubber fitting is used to connect the
MAP sensor to throttle body
(1) Remove air cleaner intake tube at throttle
body.
(2) Remove two MAP sensor mounting bolts
(screws)
(3) While removing MAP sensor, slide the rubber
L-shaped fitting from throttle body.
(4) Remove rubber L-shaped fitting from MAP sensor.

From the FSM for installation
1) Install rubber L-shaped fitting to MAP sensor.
(2) Position sensor to throttle body while guiding
rubber fitting over throttle body vacuum nipple.
(3) Install MAP sensor mounting bolts (screws).
Tighten screws to 3 N·m (25 in. lbs.) torque.
(4) Install air cleaner intake tube.

Is your Jeep Hickuping or Missing in a way at like 50-55 Miles an Hour? I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.5L in it as well. I have had this problem for the past few months and have not been able to fix it. I have replaced the following parts and have not gotten anywhere. I dunno if you are having the same problem or not but this is the last part I have not replaced other then getting a Valve Job.

Here are the Parts I have replaced and No luck:
Crack Position Sensor
Camshaft Position Sensor
4 New Fuel Injectors
Spark Plugs and Wires
Distributor Cab and Rotor
Ignition Coils
High Flow CAT
Idle Air Control Module
Both O2 Sensors

I just wanted to know if you are having the same problem or not and figures I would try and save you the greef of changing all the parts and not getting anywher if this is your problem. Let me know if this is your problem though please as well. Because this may be the fix to the issue.

No it's not having that problem. Mainly my problem was the check engine light was coming on. I checked the code and it said that the "MAP Sensor Voltage too High".

From my understanding I believe that this means there is too much air mixing with the fuel when it is firing. Haven't had any problems at speed, but have had problems with it hicupping, and once even stalling at a stop light.

Took it into the dealership, because I wasn't sure if my warranty was up or not. Warranty had ended 20 days before, they told me I had a faulty MAP Sensor, and so thats why I'm replacing it on my own. Sorry i'm not more help.

Good luck

No Problem. Thanks for the infomation though. You said yours was hiccuping though. Like when would it Hiccup on you. That is on thing i have a problem with as well. It feels like a hiccup at 50-55 and some times when I am accelerating as well.

Thanks again for the help.

Same problem with mine , i have a 98 2.5 and it will hiccup i thought it may be a plugged fuel filter , or even o2 sensor it shows no codes when it does it . i tried a higher octane gas and it seemed to help for a little while . now it is back again . let me know what you find as i will do the same .

my 98 started doing this, i thought it was heat related, in the upper 90s recently, ran datalogger for over one hour, it happened, but it does not show up in graphs of sensor readouts, so i am puzzled, runs smoth, idles fine, no codes, no overheating, pinging etc., just cant seem to find source, i have been told to check major grounds, might be possible source?.............:)
