My friend just got a '92 briarwood which had a dead battery so we went to jump it only to find it stalling immediately after. I am wondering if there is a stock security system causing this. There is a security idiot light blinking on the dash, the flashers are blinking and the headlights are blinking. This would make me think there is some kind of anti-theft start disable. Any ideas?

sounds more like its not getting fuel. I think most security systems cut power to the starter and wont let it start at all. You should check and see if your getting fuel at the injectors and if you are, is the pressure good?

It is the stock alarm system, it doesn't cut power to the started it just cuts the fuel flow, when its got some power hooked up to it and the headlights are flashing go to the drivers side door and with the key lock, and un-lock it, that should de-activate the alarm, but as soon as you try and start it and the battery dips too low it will kick the alarm back on. good luck with the stock alarm it can really tick you off a good amount of the time.

i had the same exact problem with a 95 zj.
It definitly sounds like the stock security system.

Option A: Unlock the drivers side door with the key and see if that works.

Option 2: Unlock the vehicle with keychain remote.

Option C: Stick an M-80 in the gas tank...............Wont solve the problem but it would be cool to watch anyway.

jsut had a similar problem today.. the tow truck guy actually knew soemthing about jeeps i didnt. Try putting the pedal at about 50% when your starting it and letting it run at about 2500 RPMS for like 15 seconds

The security system is doing what is should do. When you connect the battery the headlight start flashing this means the alarm is in start up mode to fix this put the key in the door and turn it the head light should stop flashing. If they dont try the key in the other door. Then the jeep will start right up.
