Since the fuse layout map on the inside cover of the fuse box is tough to read for those of us with older eyes, and since there have been several threads requesting such a diagram, I thought I'd go ahead and post this for whoever finds it useful.

If anyone sees any mistakes, let me know immediately and I'll fix it. Note that this is from my 2-door JK 2009... I don't know if there are any differences between the 2-door and the 4-door, nor if there were any changes between 2007 or 2008.

question

perhaps you can help me. I foudn an electronic version of the 2008 JK Bill of materials:
http://d.scribd.com/docs/2k4ee67ul95m7ob8twn7.pdf
On page 121 it has a similar diagram. Find number 13 says fog lamp relay. I cant quite figure out where that is on your diagram. It doesnt seem like you have any description for the K items on your picture. Well really my question is this: Since there is apparently already a relay in the stock fuse box, can I just wire my aftermarket lights into that and run the other wire directly to my aftermarket switch?

The illustration in the link is not the TIPM we have in our JKs.
Here is a picture of the "K" items in our TIPM.
The fog lights are electronically controlled on one of the TIPM circuit boards, shown in the second picture.

Maybe you can help me out. I have a European JK with EU tailights and they have a seperate indicator light. I want to change these taillights with led's, but the led's are US versions and share a brake/indicator light.

I asked a few wiring diagrams from the dealer and found out that (without the extra wire) the changes are withing the TIPM/front module. The only thing I don't know is; if it's a seperate relay/module, or if its a software change in the computer itself that states if it's a EU or US vehicle and uses the extra indicator wire.

Can you tell me something about this? If it's a software thing I can ask the dealer to change my JK to a US version.

Thanks,

Dennis

Does any one know how to tap directly into the fuse box to add a circuit that the jeep is made to have without using add a fuse or an Spod? It looks like i might need to take the fuse box totally out to be able to do anything like this but i was hoping that someone might have a different take on this then the add a fuse and Spod. I am not worried about time just if it is possible for a mechanic to do?

Thank you,
that was really help fully i have been searching for that for a while now. You don't by chance have a guide for removing the TIMP itself by chance do you? It looks like it is just held in by a couple off clips and I could use a flat head to release them but I would like to make sure before i frustrate my self with something that is incorrect.

Factory foglights

Is there a way to get the factory fogs to stay on while the highs are on?
Also can you make the low and high and fogs be on all at once.

I did this on my avalanche years ago.
I do plan to add extra LED lights at some point but for now would like to keep the fogs on with the highs/brights.

Great topic by the way. Thank you for all the great info.

Only ways I know of are direct wiring to a separate switch independent of the TIPM, or with a programmer you can choose for them to come on with the high beams.

Electrical Issues....

Driving home in POURING rain, With no grill, my lights started to flicker. Then I had NOTHING. No steering wheel controls, no lights, no directionals, no runners, no wipers. All I had were my LED spots... Needless to say, I got home safely, but WTF? Any advise will be appreciated.

Fuse M38 protects the door lock relay coils on the pc board inside the TIPM.
Fuse M38 protects the circuits that leave the TIPM to actuate the lock actuators.
The door lock switches are MUX, and are not protected by a fuse.

It's most likely the short that is blowing the fuse is between the TIPM and the door locks.

Try disconnecting each door to see if one of them is causing the short. Don't forget the tail gate.
If, after all the doors are disconnected, it continues to blow the fuse, you will have to check each lock/unlock wire for continuity to ground.
