Not A cop, but my understanding is...
Not allowed to take doors off if they are held on with a "permenant attachment points(nuts or bolts)".
Soft doors are not held on by nuts or bolts.
Hard doors are.
And
Basicly Colorado law states "if it came with it from the factory, it is needed".

 

Don't know if it is legal or not, but I haven't had my doors on for about 2 months and I haven't had a problem.

 

I think as long as you have your seat belts on , most police have better things to do then complain about your doors . I would say if your driving around in a civic with no doors the cops might give you a second look but jeeps kind of a different story .

 

I've never had a problem in the 'Springs.

Here is my :2c:: Motorcycles do not have doors so why would your jeep need them?:laugh:

 

I've not had any problems running topless and/or doorless in my TJ for the last 3.5 years. I drive by cops everyday on my way to work, which is 100% highway. As far as I have read the law, as long as you have 1 rearward facing mirror, you're A-OK in Colorado.

 

My soon to be brother in law is a police officer in Estes, he said that as long as youre not hanging out of your jeep, i.e. feet on fender flares, then you probably wont be hassled be any cops. Its not illegal, but alot of cops will pull you over if youre hanging out.

i have driven by tons of cops in boulder w/o doors. im not saying that makes it legal, but not a single one has glanced my way....

As a newbie to CO, I find it hard to imagine that a state that doesn't require motorcycle helmets would quibble with Jeep doors.

That said, it's rained so much since we got here that I haven't had the doors off. And I undestand it'll be snowing here in a couple of months, so....
