Hey all, I'm creating this thread because I always come to my jeep community before looking elsewhere on all my projects. Plus I got excited that this thread was "& other off road equipment" as my trailer is definitely going to be that eventually.
I have a brand-new cargo trailer I pull with the JK Unlimited and have two awnings coming. One for the roof rack on the jeep and another for the cargo trailer. I bought a Interstate 5x10 with drop gate. My question is on the mounting. Being that it only has a 4.7 interior height, I don't want to mount it on the exterior side wall as it will be too low for walking under and I want it to also go over the side entry door for when I'm camping. So, I'm thinking of mounting it on the curved part of the roof. I bought one that is 8.2 feet long so it will mount flush with the rear seam and front marker light. where I need your guy's advice and help is the mounting itself. I was planning to drill each mount directly through the roof and inner roof brace. But, I don't want to use the mounting brackets because i think it would look horrible. So I planned on mounting it directly to the awning main frame and roof. I already got some rubber roof seam tape to put between them for water proofing. what advice and suggestions do you guys have and please chime in if any of you have done this. I'm including pics of everything so you guys are not flying blind. Thanks.
