Many times I see cool things on face book but hate to create a new post for each one so I’m starting this post where we could post pictures of cool CJs we’ve seen on other forums.

I'll start it off with this picture of a diesels conversion with a 353 2 stroke Detroit Diesel

Notice which vehicle makes the deeper tracks....

Imagine how nose heavy that CJ7 is with that diesel. Wonder the difference in weight compared to the OEM 6 or V8.

Just noticed in your post it is a 2 stroke!

Detroit has produced two stoke diesels since the thirties. They were one of the powerplants for the Sherman tank during WWII.
If it weren't for the weight, diesel engines with their high torque and economy numbers would be the perfect CJ engine.
There have been a couple of VW TDI diesel conversions here and there....

Wow. Half a ton in engine.

Found this JF thread. The 304/360 engines weigh 520lb. So the 352 2 stroke Detroit is about double the weight.

Yep, it is a two stroke. All the old school Detroit Diesel engine were two strokes. My dad towards the end of his business career used Detroit powered Chevy and GMC dump trucks. They were workhorses even in the smaller displacement engines. They came in I4, I6, V6, V8, and V12 (Buzzin' Dozen) configurations for road and off-road trucks. There was also V16s in heavy equipment. Displacement is 53, 71, and 92 C.I. per hole. Not all displacements were available in all configurations. If anyone served in the walking military and rode in an M113 APC it is powered with a 6V53 engine. The 3-53 is a 159 CI three cylinder. Horsepower is about the same as a 258.

All you need to know before buying the Detroit 3-53 Diesel Engine (swiftequipment.com)

Any rumor when they start production?

How many options for the bed/cargo area will be available (candidate for options like the Hummer was for military uses)?

Price range?

Heck yes, very interesting!

Saw this on FB Marketplace this morning. It is a 82 CJ5 frame in Seneca SC. It is listed for $1.600, but has been listed for 28 weeks. Lady's name is Rebecca Partain. She may be tired of having it parked in her driveway. Did he get the rest in the divorce settlement.
