I've been trying to replce my cv joints and axles but am having trouble getting the 3 13mm bolts that hold the hub on to come loose. Ive tried soaking in wd-40 and beating on a wrench with a hammer(broke 2 box end wrenches) to no avail. I even tried removing the 3 castle nuts to take off the entire steering knuckle, this also failed. All three of these bolts seem to be too rusted to remove, and i cant drill them out as the hub is in the way. Anyone have a suggestion?

Get a small torch and heat up the bolts closest to , and inside the casting , works every time .

Get yourself some real penetrant , PBblaster , that stuff is amazing

Also, try using a 6pt socket with a breaker bar. I assume the bolts are 6pt. If they aren't use the proper 12pt socket.

Also, I know desperate times call for desparate measures, but a hammer on a wrench never ends up the way you want it to.

Try the heat meathod. It works everytime I get annoyed with something.

x2 on what the previous poster said. When I had to do this the first time it was h*ll! Get a breaker bar with a 12pt socket and a long pipe to act as your helper while doing this. Also, jack up your front end and rotate your wheels both ways to get more room to work.

BTW-Do yourself a favor and put some anti-seize on the bolts when you reassemble it, you'll thank me later.

there probably $300 canadian up here but if you can't get it out then you need to do something

get a good 1/2 drive 12 point impact socket and a long breaker bar
spray the bolt where they go into the hub (a few threads stick out)
I like to use the ZEP penatrating oil seem to have great results as long as I give it some time to work (overnght is awesome)

That's similar to what I do. A box wrench or 3/8" drive ratchet won't cut it. A 1/2" drive ratchet with a 12 point 13mm socket (good quality socket, cheap ones will just round or crack), PB blaster, and heat. Usually I can get them easily with what's listed. If not, a cheater bar always takes care of it.
