The alarm may self activate, you want to permamently DISABLE the alarm instead of attempting to fix the source of the problem? This works on 1993-1995 ZJ Grand Cherokee , 96 and newer ZJ's the alarm is part of the BCM, so this disable won't work. It may or may not work on 1990-1995 XJ Cherokee as well, but I personally haven't verified it. The vehicle has to be running, it will not work on a PCM that is already disabled by theft, the security module is located behind the glove box.
Because there is a sperate VTSS Security Alarm Module on the (93-96) ZJ's you can perform the following proceedure. The Jeep must be able to start (vtss disabled). Start the jeep, then while running, unplug the VTSS module, allow the jeep to run for 2-3 minutes. Then turn off the engine. You have unplugged the Security module the PCM cannot get an "ARM" messgage from Security (leave the module unplugged, it doesn't have to be removed from the vehicle, just unplugged). Start the ZJ and it should run fine.
I've done this to a few early model ZJ's, including my own 95 and it works fine. Hope this helps some brothers out!
