How long does it take for por15 to be dry?

Was just wondering. Would like to start painting soon, and figuring temps tomorrow will be high 60's, any idea on time between coats? The directions don't really seem to give a time. Thanks!

I don't think he was asking the cure time.
If you were to wait until the first coat cures before adding the second sanding would need to be involved between the two....no one 'wants' to sand por15.
If you've made all the necessary preparations and the humidity is high it will hold if kept clean for a couple of weeks.

When I have used POR-15 I found that on humid or rainy days it 'dried' (cured) faster then on dry or low humiditiy days. humid days a recoat was around 2-3 hours and on drier days 5-6 hours. But I am in NE, not talking Southern humidity, which I guess may be so high as to delay drying not speed it up?

from the POR faq:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE POR-15 TO DRY?
That depends on the ambient humidity (surrounding area). The more humid the area, the faster the dry time, which usually varies from 3 to 6 hours.

Ok. I was originally going to start it today, being the temperature high changed to low 60's, I'm gonna have to delay it. I hate this Ohio weather anymore! Never seems to really get nice out - warm rainy days and cold sunny days....

POR 15 is a moisture curing paint, i.e. the higher the humidity, the faster it will "dry". The product reacts with moisture in the air, and will cure faster at higher humidity levels.

Most other paints work on evaporation, or epoxy and evaporation of a solvent. Most solvents evaporate faster at higher temps, and lower humidity.

This is why POR 15 is almost imposible to remove from your hands (or forehead if you paint like me...), as it reacts very quickly to the moisture in your skin.

I think it is a great product for rust control, and we all know Jeeps need all the rust control they can get!!!
