I have nuts and bolts.

 

A PO decided to use wood screws on mine, so the holes were really bad. I used Rivnuts, got a kit from HF, made sure the holes were flat and clean.

 

Were the Rivnuts able to accept the threads of the OEM bolts and give them good grounds? I like that option!

* Also, what size Rivnuts did you use ???

 

Sounds like a good option.

 

A short piece of copper wire (14ga.+/-, household wiring) or a paperclip in the hole.

These came from the hardware store, you may have to grind a little off of the length

so it will tuck behind the lens. Be sure to scrape off a little of the paint where they contact the

grille for a good ground for the park and signal light

No slip clip on nuts for TAPPING Screws!

The OEM screws have a long shoulder where they pass thru the

lens. They resemble wood screws not Machine bolts

The holes in a OEM replacement grill on mine were like that. Used a dolly and ball been hammer to close up the holes so the OEM type screws could be used. Worked well and have good grounding with the screws, lights work as intended.

 

I had that problem when I worked on my headlights. My solution was to take a piece of sheet metal, fold it back over itself, drill a very small hole, then slip it over the factory hole. I used the original screws.

 

i like the rivnuts they work great... i bought a whole kit of different sizes just so i would have them on hand...

 

We just cheat and put a tac weld at the edge of the hole and then the screw is tight in the hole again

 

UPDATE:

Fabricated some plumbers tape into custom pieces similarly to U-Clips and shaped them with a Dremel to custom fit along the radius edging of the grill hole. Drilled a small hole on the backside of the clips so that when it’s now tightened, it squeezes tightly onto and around the OEM grill turn signal holes. It is perfect and they are super tight; more than ever before. Couldn’t be more pleased! 👍🏻

Geez, I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what plumber's tape was! It's what I call plumber's strap. Pretty genius idea there, 258. I hope I can remember that one.
