Personally I would not spend the money to regear from 3.73 to 4.10.

Its not a big enough change to justify the cost in my opinion.

I'd either do 4.56 or stick with 3.73.

 

:agree: Especially with the V8 you have. If you plan on going to 33's or bigger, hit up 4.56's. 4.56's with your current 31" tires won't be much fun on the highway.

 

Just noticed your sig & profile say two different tire sizes...I would still only regear if you plan on hitting 33's or bigger.

i want to but, won't go up then the present tire size - 265/75/16 - local low issues....
i was thinking to get the 4.56 but it will take me to a bigger cost -
the arb locker {front 30dana and the rear 44dana aluminum }is limited up to 4.10 gear in its present formation .

its my wifes daily drive ,since i stay with the tires and do on the weekends some send dune offroading and some rock crawling ,
dont you think i'll have a better feel with 4.10 ?
from what i know it will give me more power in low rpm.

will 4.56 gear give me noticable change in 4x4 hi as well 4x4 low ?
what should be the differance between 4.10 &4.56 ?

and way it will not fun with 4.56 and my tires {simmilar to 32"}?

I'm not sure what mislead you to believe this, but your current lockers will both work with a 4.56 gear ratio.

The D30 carrier break is at 3.55 / 3.73. You already have the 3.73 ratio carrier which also accepts 4.10, 4.56, or 4.88.

The D44a does not have a carrier break, so no problem there.

Its a 9% difference.

In other words, 4.56 gears will multiply torque 9% more than 4.10 gears will.

with the 4.56 and 33's..or 32's..What would the RPM's be at highway speeds?

With the 545RFE 5 speed auto tranny:

32" tires / 4.56 gears @ 70 MPH = about 2,300 RPM
33" tires / 4.56 gears @ 70 MPH = about 2,200 RPM

SYE: slip yoke eliminator

With 32's, your stock 3.73 gears are fine, 4.10's would be better and 4.56's a bit overkill. Since you won't ever go over 32's, I would say to go with 4.10's if you really must re-gear it but 3.73's and 32's should be tolerable and good on gas on the highway.

Sort of, on the 242 TC from the factory the driveshaft is one piece and it can slide in/out of the output shaft on the TC. Eventually the steep angles from lifting your jeep can cause bad vibrations so a SYE does exactly what it says, it replaces the slip yoke with a fixed one.

 

4.56 - you'll notice that in both high and low ranges.
4.56's and 32's won't be unbearable by any means, but it is a pretty tall gear for that size tire. If you don't ever plan on going to a bigger tire hit up 4.10's. But I don't think you'll notice a huge difference between 3.73 and 4.10's.
