I just donated my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo to the Vets and replaced it with a 2020 Compass Limited. While tinkering with the vehicle's information screen, I noticed that the coolant temp is around 215° when running and 229° when idling at a light; a/c running and outside air temp 75°. Is this normal for this Jeep?

Yes, I have been concerned also, I picked up for my better half a 2017 Jeep Renegade Desert Hawk with a 2.4L 4cyl engine with 9 speeds. The temperature normal running is about 205 to 208*F when it was cooler. Now the outside temp has gone from 50-60 t0 85-95 and in traffic driving with air on it runs between 210 and 227*F get it running 55- 75 and it cools down to the 205-208*F. checked with 2 dealerships and they both said that's normal. they said the temps could even go a bit higher to 235*f. They asked when the fan kicks in and I have never heard it thus far but will be checking. Have a trip to CA. in about 2 weeks and will pull small trailer about 500 lbs. temps to be in the 100's. Hey a last quick question: with the 9 speed transmissions this renegade never ever takes off in first gear... always second and never ever shifts into 9th gear. The only way they do is if I go to manual and shift them there. if I shift back to drive while stopped it will go back to second. If I shift it back to drive after forced it into 9th gear it will run in 9th until a hill, slow down, etc., which I would expect. Otherwise, the jeep runs great! oh 30,000 miles now bought when 25,000 miles. I gues if not normal then what might need to be done?
