Engine turns over but will not crank. NOt getting spark from coil to distributor cap. I have 12v going into coil but no spark coming out. I have tested fuses both inside jeep and under hood(good). replaced coil, crank positioning sensor, and distributor. All voltage readings are within range on each. Diagnostic test comes back with 11, 12,33, 55. Took horn relay(working fine) out and put in automatic shutdown relay to test, still not spark from coil.

Code#11 is either the CPS or distributer pick-up sensor signal not being sensed at the ecm. You state that you replaced the CPS sensor and also the distributer. Did the new distributer have a new pick-up sensor or did you swap in the original? If both sensors are new, then you will need to closely inspect the wiring and connectors for these sensors to see why the signal is not making it to the ecm.

Thanks for quick reply. Yes replaced both CPS and pick up sensor in distributor. Did PCM Reset afterwards. I do notice a little scruffing on the rubber of the plug that hooks up to the cps. Doesn't look compromised. Ill check continuity.

One female side of the connectors(both crank and distro ) push them out and squeeze them and the reconnect give it try.

Wish I would have done this a while back. It sat parked for a few months with me not wanting to mess with it. I got tired of trying to chase an electrical issue. I took the female side of the cps and did as you said. Guess what! She's cranking every time I turn the key. G

Looks like it wasn't the cps or cks. Although it didn't hurt to replace them anyway and keep the others for backups. I started wiggling wires making my way around the motor, each time having my wife turn it over..nothing. Shook the bulk head around where it plugs in right above the pcm and vrooooom... guess I'll have to do some cleaning and securing of the wires on the harness. Is there anyway to pull out and reseat the wires going into the harness head?

Ok sounds more like the pin / connector to the ECM is loose or dirty. Either way you can loosen the securing screw, unplug the connector the divider section will come out and you can push the wires out to where you can see the female side squeeze those gently together again. Reseat the connectors back in place to where they line back up, reinsert divider and reconnect you will be all set. If you want to check these 2 connector ( pin) 24( crank position) and 44 (cam position) and cps. Those 2 will give you the code 11. Pin 4 is the sensor ground and pin 6 is the sensor power( i do not think it would be either of those because it will show more codes)

Took it apart last night and gave it a good cleaning. Cleaned all the old grease out and reapplied. Nothing looked excessive. I'm beginning to think it was some old man Juju. My friends dad lives up on 10 acres right on the St Johns River out by himself, out. He has a sign at the front of his property that says something along the lines of Welcome to Paradise, Careful Some never leave! I've never had a problem like this with the jeep. His son and two other of us were meeting there to head to a trail. The old man came out, talked a bit before heading out. Got ready to leave and I told him "yeah, they've got the new jeeps, I've got an oldie but a goodie!" And, insert foot! I appreciate all the help. I'm going to take it out later this week to give it a good run, we'll see if she acts up.

Thanks, for the report back that you got it fixed and did not cost you anything but alittle time. But hey I learned this after chasing that problem for about a week straight. But I had just done the swap in to the 4.0 from a 4.2.
