Do doors from new cherokees, say 97, fit on older cherokees, say 93. i like the new door panels instead of the older, plain looking ones. thanks.

You can swap doors across the whole cherokee run, IIRC. A common mod is to put newer doors on older cherokees to get rid of the wing windows. The striker plates are different, so you will need the new style striker plate to go with the new doors.

The new doors are a different shape up front. I had 97 doors that came with the xj and they did not fit. The door striker was 3.5-4" lower and the front of the door where it durves was different. I had to get 96 doors.

They are not different enough that they won't fit. Many people do it for a number of reasons. Newer mirrors, newer seals, one piece window. There are lots of write up one how to do it. It's really not hard.

IMO the whole thing about 1997 and on is all about revamped body on the outside with internals pretty much the same (structure wise)... so you can most likely swap the entire body (newer doors, fenders, hood, header, hatch) onto older skeleton without much extra work... just my two cents.
