Are you planning on doing some off roading or anything specific you will use the GC for other than Daily Driver? There might be different packages you can get for the Altitude to get rid of the suede.

 

Just a Daily Driver.

 

18 inch wheels are standard on the limited, 20s are optional.

 

I realize this. Don't really care for the 20s Jeep puts on the Grand Cherokee. I liked the old 5 spoke style.

 

The Altitude is a dressed up Laredo, the Limited is a higher line with a couple more bits of standard equipment. The big difference comes in option availability, like HIDs, V8s, LED DRLs, and tow packages which are not available on a Laredo. Roof rails are not available on the Altitude trim. You can build and price on Jeep.com or Edmunds or KBB and see which is the best package for the options you want.

 

i have a 2012 laredo X with altitude pkg. Black leather, 20" wheels, hemi v8, full panoramic sunroof, selec-trac, roof rails, and more - all factory, no mods. roof rails even have jeep logo. I've only had it for 2 weeks and i'm loving it more each day!

 

If its just for a daily. I would go with the Limited if you are concerned about the seats. I didnt want those either, but the trailhawk came with the all leather option so I went with that. That way you are comfortable driving it!! it would be really easy to black out the decals and get new wheels. Much harder to replace seats OR you could just get seat covers!

 

Oh, and also has factory tow pkg.

 

Option packages and standard equipment change over the years. On 2012 Laredos, tow packages and V8s were available. 2018s are different.

 

I had this same dilemma about a month back and went with an Altitude. It basically came down to form over function for me. The Altitude just looked better with the body colored and blacked out trim pieces. I kept staring at the dull gray plastic surrounding the wheel wells on the Limited and it bugged me. Plus, I won't be doing much off roading, and plan on keeping it forever and didn't want to deal with the headaches of the air ride once lines, compressors, tanks, and seals start to go. Another thing is I don’t like leather, so I’m a huge fan of the seats in the Altitude.

It would be nice to have the V8, but the V6 with the 8 speed trans is very responsive.

I thought the limited had the Quadra Trac (non air) standard?

 

Correct. Limited has Quadra-Trac II (QTII) standard, which gives you the select terrain over the QTI (4Lo with locking differential). Quadra-DRIVE is optional and has the air suspension.

 

Talking newer Grand Cherokee models, QTI is standard on Laredos, its a single speed open diff AWD transfer case that uses brake traction control. QTII is available as an option with some packages.

QTII is standard on Limiteds and above, its the clutch based 4WD transfer case with low range. It also has the terrain selector and uses brake traction control to augment.

The ELSD locking rear diff is stand alone or part of the QD package but currently the only vehicles you can get the ELSD on also have the air suspension. It wasn't always like that.

SRTs and Trackhawks are different.

 

I ordered my 2018 with the offroad II package. Includes alot, including quadradrive which I love. I just hope it stays trouble free. 18" aluminum cast wheels were standard. Also Goodyear Kevlar offroad tires, which are outstanding both on and off road.

 

The offroad adventure package is good like that. Get the hooks and better 4wd yet with the 18" wheels as the larger wheels are for looks - not better for offroad (or in my opinion on-road).

 

My 18 Laredo Upland has the QT2 case in it. My brother just got a 19 Altitude and it has the single speed case. Ive never seen an Altitude with the QT2.
