94 Gr Cherokee 4.0 - OEM Battery Cables...can't find...

Hello All,

I am a "Weekend Warrior Mechanic" so I'm no expert (this is embarrassing). I am trying to find OEM replacement Positive & Negative Battery Cable Assemblies for my 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo 6 cylinder 4WD and I can't find them anywhere except the dealer and they are just crazy for what they are charging (like $180.00). These aren't just one positive & one negative cable...each cable has multiple cables running off of it and I really don't want to take the chance of "rigging" something that might go wrong. They are all corroded inside the sheathing and I want to replace them.

* Does anyone out there have any suggestions where I might find these battery cable assemblies?

* Does anyone out there know how I can find the Mopar part numbers for these cable assemblies? Quadratec couldn't even find them...they asked me for the Mopar part numbers and I can't find the Mopar Part numbers for them online anywhere either.

*Do I actually have to buy these from the dealer for $180.00?

Please help - much appreciated.

Thank you in advance :)

Check your local part stores.. They will have what you need. Wont be the mopar brand but will fit.

Or check rockauto.com

Following up:

To all that suggested "Local Parts Stores"...thanks for posting, but no good. I went to Auto Zone, Discount Auto & Napa. Napa, that has the best most expensive parts, only carried the positive cable for the 8 cylinder - not my 6 cylinder. He said "if we don't have it, that means it's a dealer part". This is a battery harness - including POS & NEG cables and all branching cables. None of these "local parts stores" even knew what I was talking about. Waste of time & gas.

After calling my local Jeep dealer, he said he could order it. He said it was discontinued and there is only 1 of these harnesses in the entire country and it's in a warehouse in Oregon (I am in Florida). He proceeded to tell me that this OEM Battery Cable harness was $239.00. $239.00!!!!!!! I got the part number from him and told him I am coming down to order it. Then I started hitting the internet and making calls. 5 places (including Quadratec) said NOPE - discontinued. I found a dealer in Oregon that said they could get it from that warehouse & could ship it to me for $163.00 out the door. I bit the bullet & ordered it.

Now, as I sit & wait for these cables to arrive, my jeep doesn't start without a jump anymore. The cables are so corroded throughout that the battery doesn't get a charge when I am driving and I have to get a jump wherever I go. The alternator is fairly new so it runs well once it's jumped. Cables are set to arrive via UPS on September 17th.

Just thought you might like to know. This was a tough part to find.

Thanks

Joe

Didn't like the fact that the site was down (still is) and there's only a phone number. No info on the seller. Don't like making blind deals.

Besides...I wanted OEM parts that fit as they were supposed to fit & didn't have to be cut / rigged...just installed as it was.

Thanks anyway.
I believe they have been a reputable company for years. IMO you should have asked us for more info. You got the advice you were looking for..thought you wanted to save money?? Buy with your CC and have a totally safe purchase.

Like Matt said, better cables for half the price. Its like buying bottled tap water.

I called them BOTH. They were the ones on my list that originally said they could order it then came back with "discontinued" - not available.

Thanks anyway.

IMO you should have asked us for more info.
I asked for info a week ago & got very few replies. I need this immediately and I didn't get enough responses or the advice I was looking for so I dug harder & had to go with my gut. BTW...I DID save $$$ - almost $100.

Like Matt said, better cables for half the price. Its like buying bottled tap water.
...but that's not what I asked for...I asked for OEM cables advice.

Thanks anyway.
