I recently purchased a Certified Pre-owned Overland with just over 40k miles on it. Already within 1 month of it, I am bringing it back because of a creaking noise over the drivers side front wheel.I have recorded the noise, played it for the Dealership GM and have already been on a test drive with a mechanic who heard the noises and verified it as well. I left the Jeep there for a couple of days (they needed to look at the brakes, rotors a clicking noise I was hearing coming from the dashboard-all are ok, or were ok until the other day when the noises came back). I read and seen posts and videos (You Tube) of people that have had the same thing happen to them only to be told by Jeep/Chrysler there is nothing they could do about it. I am asking for suggestions and help. I am hopeful this dealership will get it fixed. I have gotten 6-7 jeeps (leased) from them over the years, and am hopeful they can fix this. It is very saddening that when purchasing a Jeep used like this, that I understand there can be items needing replacement, but when you have it start like this it is not very good. All I am looking for is to have it fixed while it is still under warranty (3 months-3k) and I also purchased the extended warranty as well. I am not looking to be a problem to the Dealership, but sometimes the staff seems like they could care less, and just want to get to the next customer so they can do the ticket and try to up sell them to items and services they may not need. Any suggestions?

There have been several squeaky threads here over the years, some indexed in the maintenance and repair sticky. I don’t have time to search at the moment, but in general there have been reports of sway bars, strut mounts/bolts, crossmember bolts, motor mounts, seat mounts, all being the cause of one squeak or another. The air suspension hight sensors can get noisy. Does it also squeak at ORA1 height?

Do you have a carfax report, and does it indicate anything like noise issues?

Some dealer service departments are better than others, I wish you luck with this. Sounds like the sourse is not obvious to the service tech.

thank you for replying. Yes I looked at the Carfax before I purchased the Jeep. I even took it to my own mechanic (mind the noises didn't start until the second week, so it wasn't making any noises at all- this hapened afterwards)- My mechanic said the jeep looked fine (no leaks, no under
body damage etc). I went back to Dealership today (I really want to stay with them) and spoke with the GM saying that I have had it all of only several weeks, and I don't feel it is safe-and would like to be put into another vehicle- because I am afraid it is a lemon. She said that they need to be given an opportunity to try to fix it (so this is now the second time I dropped it off at the Dealership-they gave me a loaner both times). I am not sure if I should contact NY State Attorney General's office to at least give some sort of notice. In a perfect world? I would love to keep it and them be able to fix it. But the many posts and videos seen on You Tube don't make it so promising.

HI Jasmine
I currently have it back at The East Hill Chrysler/ Jeep Dealership (Greenvale NY) I dropped it off this past Monday, and have been speaking with the General Manager as well as the Service Director. I would appreciate and take all help and support. I explained to her during my visit that I don't feel the Jeep is safe (since I had to return it within a week-to fix and address the same 4 items that it was in for before). I also expressed my dedication to this Dealership and Loyalty to them, and am hoping they show the same back to me by doing the right thing.

HI Jasmine- would appreciate any and all assistance. I dropped it off again this past Monday and spent time speaking with the General Manager (Est Hills Jeep Chrsyler- Greenvale NY) and was just totally and completely honest and upfront (I don't know any other way). I told her I was back a second time within 2 weeks to have the same 4 items reviewed and looked into-mainly the creaking noise). I expressed my sincere concern as if this car my be a "Lemon" I explained (as she knows) I have basically been with them since early 2000's-so I do consider myself a loyal customer, and this being the first time I purchased a "Pre-Certified" Truck and it has been a disaster (Sales Person-Greg is and has been extremely compassionate of what I am going through) The General Manager said she will speak and work with the Service Director and get back to me (yesterday)- FYI-She has not. It really is just a shame because I am beginning to be made to feel that I am bothering them and that my concerns are really mine now-since I purchased it. My (and I am sure many people on here think or feel the same way)- it would be nice if when dealing with Management from the Dealership they can view what is happening through the Customer's eyes. Not just as someone complaining. I work very hard for my money (as does everyone else does) and only as I told everyone there at the Dealership I just want the Jeep fixed, ensured that the issues were addressed and fixed permanently and not something that may be good for 1-2 weeks and them I am back...

Funny, I just responded to another thread about a squeak coming from the driver’s side footwell. Here is that response. Hope it answers your problem.
“I had a similar, if not the same, squeak and read many posts about undercarriage and under dash sources for the noise. As I accelerated and braked the squeak sounded as though it came from under my seat.
My issue turned out to be an easy fix. I sprayed WD-40 on the 2 large main cross bars (black) under the seat where they meet the front-to-back support bars. ”

Hey guys... I’m a journeyman Automotive Service Technician up in Canada and recently had a similar issue. It turned out to be the sway bar links. They look good (no play) as they are usually under load on the vehicle. I disconnected them and went for a quick test drive to confirm and my noise was gone. After swapping in a new set the sound is gone and customer is happy as can be!

Hopefully this helps.
