So of course I know that this is a code for EGR circuit range/performance.
My only symptom is check engine light, it idles great, no stumbling etc...

Along with seeing what the code meant, I read ways to diagnose what, exactly, is causing it to throw a code.
My question to y’all is, have you guys had this issue? If so what was the fix?

I guess I’m asking if there is one thing that is a common denominator, something that routinely happens. I know this is lazy but I just need to fix ‘er up ASAP so I can get it inspected and renew my tags.

I appreciate any help I can get guys.

It happened to me once in February during the cold snap here. Apparently, I bumped the electrical connector while installing the new serpentine belt and caused a disrupted circuit. I removed it, cleaned both connectors, put some dielectric grease on the connections, and re-installed the wiring. Everything went back to normal in my case.

Make sure the 4 bolts are tight also. [Because the EGR valve had >110,00 miles on it, I changed it a month later.]

Ok yeah my jeep has 191k miles, I've had it for 3 years so I sure if this is the original EGR. Either way, good idea on cleaning connection and checking the bolts. If those are food or don't fix it, I'll check reference and supply voltage, ground etc...
I'm tempted to just replace it but, not sure if it's a common problem on these JGC/ hemi's. I've never been a fan of EGR's in the first place....

P0404 headache

Hello Mike, I'm right there with you as my 2006 jeep commander 5.7L Hemi with 194K miles has the same issue, Runs great, smooth idle but has a P0404 code. I replaced the EGR, bolt behind alternator is a bear and cut off 3/8" to reinstall, with a code reset with the BlueDriver scanner and code returned in two weeks. Replaced the gas cap as my 2002 Dodge Durango had a similar issue which was fixed by replacing gas cap. Code is back once more and no vacuum leaks. If you find out a fix, I'd be interested in you sharing as I will for you. My next step is checking the connector and a 5 volt presence from the PCM.

Best regards,
