Hello all,

I need some advice, I just purchased my Daughter her first car 05' Liberty it is all stock and the guy that I bought it from had put some "Geto" tires and rims, these need to come off ASAP. Everything else is stock.

What I am looking for is advice on a lift that will get it off the ground a bit but maintain a smooth ride but allow me to put maybe 30" tires under it. I do not want to go with too much lift since she will be driving some windy roads to school. I was thinking maybe a 2.5" or 3" but I am open to any and all sujestions and pics of what you guys can recommend.

Money is not a big deal, tires and rims will almost be covered by selling the ones that are on it since they are practically brand new. I am willing to spend around $500 - $750 on a solid lift that will maintain a great ride.

Thank you

I have the Revtek lift on my 2006, and am VERY pleased. - http://www.revtek.com/vehicle-selection/jeep/liberty/2001-2007-liberty.html

It didn't change the ride, or fuel economy at all. Most important, of all the lift kits I researched, the Revtek was the only one (at the time) that would not void parts of the Chrysler/Jeep lifetime warranty program.

See the white Liberty in my profile photos.

FIRST DO NOT USE ANY SPACER STYLE LIFT
bad for the KJ, bad for you, total waste of money
Check out www.jeepinbyal.com
OME 927/948 spring combo gives 2.5 inches of lift and can go to 3 inch very easy
The very best as far as ride etc is the JBA adjustable coilover setup.
I have ran the OME , Ironman, and JBA coilovers on my 04, ( its been lifted over 200,000 miles ) Done over 35 lifts on KJs, and getting ready to build my second KJ for my own use with the adjustable coilovers
If you want more info let me know, be glad to help
Springs on the KJs are very weak from day one, so upgrading helps in the ride and handling a lot
My 04 pictured with over 4 inches of lift, 32s, 4.10 gears etc handles way better than it did when I bought it brand new, with my new build a low mileage 03

Also no to Skyjacker and Rustys lifts, both have spring rate same as stock
Spacer lifts are bad due to the weak springs, wear out UBJs, etc faster

You say money is not a big deal but then limit to a small amount???

It is very hard to go wrong with OME suspention lift parts and JBA upper control arms . Not hard to install even if you have never installed one on a Jeep KJ. There is even a sticky up in the top section to help you along.

Welcome to JF

You are one lucky person for sure, another forum and two different people are replacing all kinds of front end parts after less than a year. And yes from spacer lifts one was a teraflex
Can you go buy some lottery tickets for me ?

Hello all, and thank you for the awesome feed back. I did a lot of lifts and wheeling in my hay day with a 97 TJ Wrangler. This is a first for me with the Liberty, but my daughter loves it, but she wants it bigger!!! I just ran across the JBA lifts tonight before i got on here. I am impressed, however, when I say money is not a problem its not but is that lift overkill? She wants it done for looks there will be very little off road, I want to do it so I can put bigger better tires on it for traction and snow.

So, with that being said I am between two lifts. I have already ruled out skyjacker, rough country, Daystar and others that compress the original coil and over extend the original strut. So opinions on the following:

Rocky Road Outfitters

or JBA

Can put a kit together with Rocky Road that will have the outside the strut front spacer, rear full springs with extended travel OME Shocks, Upper Control arms with bump stops for around $800.00

Let me know what you guys think about this option.

Thanks again for the positive feed back.

Please stay with JBA, the RRO OTT spacer is not a good way to go no matter what they say on their site. I have parts of one of their lifts that destroyed several sets of UCAs and front shocks before the owner gave up. All OME are extended travel, nothing new there, their UCAs are , well they don't fit well at all.
After running over 200,000 miles on my 04 with various OME and JBA products there is only one way to go. ( plus installing over 35 for other people )
I go for what is going to last, ride and handling after its installed, and customer service from where I am buying from.
No matter if she never evn pulls over onto the grass, a good suspension system like OME or Ironman will pay for itself many times over in ride comfort and handling on the road
I just installed this today on my new DD, ( retiring my 04 for a while to do some major changes) Low mileage 03, lift was almost 1/2 of what I paid for the KJ a couple of months ago. But I like a comfortable ride and great handling all the time All 4 shocks are adjustable as far as round and compression, over kill? Probably yes but hey ya only live once :thumbsup:

Like I posted before you can go this way and have 2.5 inches, add a 1/4 inch top plate for 3 inches in front etc for a little over 700 and then prices on up.

If you want 3 inches of lift here is my suggestions
OME 927 front coils with a 1/4 inch top plate
Either Ironman or OME front shocks
rear OME 948 rear springs and Ironman rear shocks ( little longer )
also one extra upper isolator per side to level it front to rear
add teraflex front bumpstops, 2 hockey pucks per side in the rear for bumpstops and DONE!

Using Ironman springs in front will require a clevis and top plate to get 3 inches of lift
I think OME were even a little cheaper

Rro arms in my opinion are not super great i had to file mine down to fit them. Also the contact from the upper a arms on the coils is almost unbearable. I get a loud metallic PING over even speed bumps and manhole covers.

I wish i bought the adjustable coilover setup. But i love the look of my truck, the ride is also worth all the headaches haha

This is what I have decided to go with. I think I have everything here I need to get to the 3" lift on my kids KJ.

Clevis Spacer for Front Struts
Clevis Spacer 0.500"
Qty:1
$16.95

JBA Strut Spacer Plate Set
Qty: 1
$27.95

OME 2926 COIL SPRINGS (For a little smother ride)
Qty:1
$167.20

BILSTEIN - Heavy Duty Front Strut
Qty:2
$211.98

BILSTEIN - Heavy Duty 2.5" Lift Rear Shock
Qty:2
$175.98

Rear Coil Spring Set
JBA 2.5" Lift
Qty:1
$175.95

Let me know what yall think, I like what I have read about Bilstine Shocks and struts so Im going to give them a try and cut cost a little.

Ok for thoes of you following my build for my kid. I went with the 1.5" OME lift with 927 front coils and 948 rear coils. Marlin at JeepinByAl said I would get the below results with this lift:

OME lift kit OME-KJ-1.5 install 9/09
In September we did an install on Steve's 05 Liberty we added the OME 1.5 kit with OME927 front heavy duty springs, OME948 rear heavy duty springs
When this jeep came in the ride height was LF 18.75", RF 18.50" LR 19.00", RR 19.00"

After installing lift

The new ride height on Steve's Liberty is now LF 22.00", RF 22.00" LR 21.25", RR 21.25"
The increase on the front was 3.25" and the rear 2.25" this leveled out the front with the rear. These dimensions are taken from the center of the wheel to fender flair.

I am hoping for the same results, if not easy fix with clevis spacer in the front and an extra upper Isolater for the rear. Shou out to TomMudd for the help with this project. I am going to go and take before pics and after the install I will upload them all for everyone to see. I also stayed with OME coils with OME shocks and struts, they were designed to work together so I figured the best ride would be to keep them together.

Thanks for everyons help and input I appreciate it!!!

Hello, I have a 2005 Liberty Rocky Mountain edition that I am looking to lift. I transport my dirt bike on a hitch rack and I want to lift the vehicle so that no clearance is lost with that added load on the back. I also wanted to upgrade the coils on the front and rear because it has never been done and I would like to have better off road capabilities. Any advice or info is helpful. Thank you

Many choices really that would work, first whats your budget etc?
hate to ask but it does come down to money
Cheapest would be the OME 927/948 spring combo with either OME, Ironman or Bilstein shocks
To carry the load you'd be wise to either get those air bags that install inside the rear coils OR another option is the Monroe Sensatrac loadlevelers for a 99-04 Dodge Dakota 4x4. I have ran them on the 04 for over 90,000 miles ( thats with an aftermarket rear bumper, Kilby gas tank skid, pulling my trailers a lot etc , works good for me and others.
Then of course you have the JBA adjustable coilovers , best there is , great ride, adjustable etc
