Anyone have better directions to the Coal Road trails? I have a stock 03 TJ and my buddy has a lifted FJ and I'm looking to take my kids out for a fun day on the trail... Any other fun offroad trails in the Charlottesville area? Thanks for the help. I'm also looking for an offroad trail that we could camp out on in a month or so.

Check out through big levels /bald mountain Sept 10th thread in the VA part of the forum. Bunch of us getting a trail rid together for next weekend.

Look At the central va/metro Richmond sticky. There is a map of Virginia trails including coal rd and trails in there. Look at it.

OP,

Seeing as youre on 35s, Crabtree falls is the most interesting trail in the area I know of other than crozet. Its got some decent rocks that open on 33s could have a bit of trouble with if they take the hard lines.

If you want actual wheeling that would challenge you rig, crozet is your only option. Most things in the area are fire roads that stock 4x4 full size trucks can get up like big levels. You can still have tons of fun exploring and making a day trip out of it, but there is no challenge in it. Just depends on what youre looking for.

Also big levels.

Crozet is awesome for crawling. I go there with KMA Offroad a few times a year. Its the RCPFA site that was posted earlier in the thread. If you check the site you could attend an open wheeling weekend, that way if you show up solo youll have spotters and a group to wheel with.

Hey everyone I'm new! I'm planning on taking my jeep, which is currently still stock, up to Bald Mountain Trail by way of the coal road next sunday, 3-24-12. Would anyone be willing to join me and maybe play guide? I'm new to offroading and thought it would be fun to go exploring!:2thumbsup:
