Hello I'm new here and would like some info. I'm looking at the 2022 Grand Cherokee WK Laredo 4x4, it has the 3.6 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine Upg I w/ESS Engine. I know the early models had problems with this engine.
Can anyone tell me if this is a good engine now ? Have they fixed the issues?

Thanks,
Ray

Well if you mean say the rocker bearings, oil cooler. Not much it seems. Dorman came out with what should be bomb proof design. Its all alloy, not plastic. Cost more and its made in China i believe. Figures even China can make a part better then where ever jeep sources that out to? Mexico no idea. Jeep fans are drooling over the new straight 6 that is said to be coming soon. Though jeep at the same times says they will be all in Ev as well? So a new I6 that will be a orphan soon?

But the end days of Hemi and maybe the V6 as well. In the end to make the new MPG even that straight six i think wont make the cut. Jeeps Ev tech. is rather far behind. the 14Kw battery use is 700w a mile. most other Ev are at 300 or less Watts per mile...Its a new way of count MPG. WPM. Jeep is loosing way to much power to use ratio. By design as well it could be much better. But they will have to rethink a wrangler rather well to get to say 450w. I would like to see maybe a integrated solid axle motor in the Dif. make room for it. same up front. now the frame area can be the battery and have space..... and be plated for rocks. The axle is everything so it needs maybe two speed not one like a Tesla single speed gear reduction. Low and a go gear.

Reality if it was your money i was spending a lot is changing right now. They can hardly build the ICE vehicle lack of many parts not just chips. Then they need to go EV too, or get left behind like the horse and buggy. Lot to do and someone is an Orphan in the end. Where is the design going?

Doc

The guy just wants to buy a vehicle and does not need a dissertation on future Jeep design from whatever crystal ball you are peering into.

The 3.6L pentastar has been around a good number of years. 2012 had some problems with bad head casting but othrr than the oil filter adapter / oil cooler cracking issue, it’s a pretty solid engine.
