Slow day, spring bushings still haven't arrived, So I installed the rear brake lines on the axle... Tracking down a simple banjo bolts for the 8.8 was a PIA, No one had any, and the ones for the D30 were dealer only..

Was above 60* so I hit the frame with a coat of paint. Mounted the 35's on it... Looking at it sitting there frame and wheels only, makes me want to build a buggy.

Also tacked some washers to frame to use a reference points, for pulling diagonals to check square when welding it back together

Plan will be to cut and stretch, Friday... Hopefully..

Your LJ was a piece of cr@p and this will end up a piece of cr@p. SO being the great guy I am, I'll give you cash for it when you're done to save you the hassle of owning it and you can go back to those British electrical bombs again. Let me know where to send the car transportation company and do you take cheques?

;)

Great progress on this beast. I'm driving an LJ and I'm jealous!!

I'm jealous but for different reasons. I think there's four guys building something - ckrewser and I don't remember who all the other two are right now but I feel them as competition and I just want to finish mine first and enter Y J of the Minute but it just ain't happenin' with work and life and sleep and stuff....
(all those dots are to make up for the periods I missed in the middle)

Happy Veterans day. Thank you to all who have served:salute:

Well, I got it done,,:2thumbsup:

Cut, welded and body back on... Went fairly smooth... except for the one moment my leg was getting very warm, and realized my pants were on fire.

Also used the Eastwood internal frame paint , and then a coat of chassis paint...

The body mounts lined up perfect... I still need to weld on the body mount for the mid tub rear mt on both sides. It got cut off because to the stretch location.

Right now she sits DAMN high with little weight on the frame.

I was also able to get the cherokee in the garage to start harvesting the drive train... Got the shafts, the shifter and the TCU pulled already, and cut the exhaust...

So once the drivetrain is ready to pull, I'll pull the new frame back out from under the tub, and go to work on installing the drivetrain, , making a belly skid, fuel tank, run brake and fuel lines

Looks great man. I'm sure it'll settle to a nice height once you get some weight on that thing.

You need to slow down though because you're making me look like I move at a snail's pace haha
HAHA, I went a whole 7 days with out working on it and it was killing me... Yours is a bit more indepth too.... Don't worry, Once I get to the wiring I'll come to a screeching halt....

My thoughts exactly. I just keep working and when I'm working I'm not assembling a jeep. People are gonna beat me to the finish.

I only work on mine during the weekends. During the week I just hang out with the family when I get home from work.
The benefit of no children, and GF lives 45 min away... I get alot of "Me" time = Jeep time

Pulling the drive train from the cherokee,

Automatic transmission guru's There are 2 cables coming off the shifter, The Trans shifter cable and a smaller one runs up under the dash... The second the brake switch? guessing I can delete it on the YJ.

Just need to unbolt the trans from the belly x member and it'll be ready to come out..

Looks familiar

To save
- front axle
- roof rack
- parking brake
- map/dome light cluster
- and I'd like the front driveshaft if you're not using it. I'll be nearby towards Christmas. Well nearby like an hour or so... :)

Are you going to keep the AW4 or change it for something else?
Yes, One of the reasons for the cherokee drive train..

If I take the front axle, they can't load it, and they are hauling it away for free... its 3.07 anyhow

Thought about the roof rack, and the parking brake, If I have time I'll snag them...I read the wj parking brake mod, not sure if the cherokee one will work...
Didn't think about the dome light, I'll look at it..
I already have the front DS, If I don't use it you are welcome to it...

Actually I still have the OEM front and rear DS from my Rubicon LJ too, if you are interested...
