Hi, I found a 2003 rhd tj with 190k miles for 5500. I just want to know if it's a good deal and if it's worth it to get a rhd over a lhd with a 5speed. It will be my first car and I think it would be fun to have a unique rhd car. And help or advice is greatly appreciated.

It'd be a great Jeep for Japan, Great Britain, mail delivery, etc. but I wouldn't otherwise own a RHD Jeep here in the U.S.. Too many parts are different and think about if you were trying to pass someone on the left on the highway. It'd be pretty much impossible to see around who you needed to pass until you got way over to the left.

It's fun, but you may not be lifting it very much. The only place that sells adjustable trackbars for RHD gets a lot of bad reviews in the Liberty forums.

There's a good ZJ steering kit for 2004 and earlier RHD TJs, but not for 2005-2006 :(

Get a body lift and skinny 32s or skinny 33s, also an aftermarket swaybar to improve front swaybar clearance.

Do you have a link to that kit please? I have an 03 RHD in New Zealand.

Anyone can adapt and learn to drive rhd. But, as you say, your first vehicle, i assume you're a young driver. As a father of three, young drivers have a hard enough time with just the basics.

Nothing personal, but if you were my son, I'd say lhd.

Here's a kit with the inverted-y tie rod and draglink for right-hand drive (22mm ends, like on a ZJ). Only fits on 2004 and earlier, not 2005-2006:

Don't get the kit that includes a stabilizer, because they ship a large one that does not fit on right-hand drive. Just get an OE-replacement Monroe Magnum stabilizer:

The ZJ tie rod and draglink each have an integrated TRE, so you only need one separate TRE for each. The Crown kit should come with the TREs, but, if anything goes wrong, then Moog replacements are readily available (I've lost my list of the part numbers for right-hand drive, so do a little bit of research to verify part # if you need to order replacement TREs).

Probably a good idea to get Moog adjuster sleeves because a few of the Crown sleeves broke:

Thanks for this, much appreciated!

My recomendation would be to go LHD as the options for lifting are far greater as mentioned already, also it's not so bad in the drivers seat but riding in the passengers seat in a vehicle with the steering wheel on the wrong side is pretty uncomfortable.....

I had not previously thought of this as a reason in favor of right-hand drive  :tea:
