I was deciding whether or not to go with a DD build or just go all out 1 ton. I'm getting more convinced now with a recent local friend with many connections and axles laying around.

What axles should I look for for this? I'm thinking just a D60 rear and a D44 front would satisify me but i'm looking for more experienced people to chime in please.

I can score a full float D60 out of a 70s Ford pickup drum to drum very cheap so if this would be a fairly good axle i'd like to get started.

Thanks for all the advice whether its comments/opinions or links.

Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear seems to be the set up of choice for the step up to one ton.

44 front isnt one ton. but like trucker said, the 60 front 14bolt rear seems to be the combo of choice

Spend some time on pirate4x4.com. Its either 60/14, 60/60, 60/70 or moog axles overthere and dont ask stupid questions because they will tear you up. plus you will have to redo your whole suspension and buy 37+ tires or theres no real point going to 1 tons

What tcase will you run? Size tire? Air shocks, coilovers, coils, leaves? Full hydro, Hydro assist, Standard steering?

3 link, 4 link, radius arms?

All depend on what the best axle for you will be.

edit: Here is the "Dana 60 Bible" Lots of good tech and will get you an idea of what you are looking for.
