Very very odd issue. Airbag light = no hvac?

Afternoon, I've been banging my head against the wall troubleshooting this problem. Hours of research and I cant seem to find another forum or posting about this identical issue.
So I have a 05 wk 4.7 limited. This started about a year ago but a friend wants to buy the jeep so I'm running through fixing as much little stuff that's wrong as possible (door handles, SRS codes, fluid changes, as so) but this issue seems to be a stubborn one

So driving around and the airbag light comes on, and my HVAC shuts off. Airbag light goes away and HVAC comes back. Code B212D. Run relay. I've been through the tech authority steps just hitting dead ends. I've changed the ignition switch and ORC. With not much change. When the light comes on I'm also noticing the auto headlight brights message comes up(Auto bright headlights off) like I turned it off myself. But I did not. I've also went through and did dielectric grease on anything in the circuit. and the connections under the seats and the 2 connections in the left driver kick panel. (Connectors with 10mm bolts securing them) Any steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe I have seen this exact same symptom before. Testing lead me to the relay inside the junction block (buy a new 600 dollar relay and get a junction block that it is built into for free sorta thing). Customer declined the repair unfortunately.

I THINK i may have a junction block from a 2007 limited you can have. I know that it won't work with my 2005 laredo but I am pretty sure the pre 2008 limiteds are pretty much the same. I had a parts car to put my 2005 together that was a 20k mile 2007 limited. I MIGHT have tossed it after scavenging relays and fuses out of it knowing it wouldn't work, but I also have this really stupid way of holding on to unimportant things... because...

If I find it and you want to cover shipping, it's all yours to have and try.

I believe the previous poster is on the right track regarding a junction block problem. Its basically the interior fuse panel near the steering column. Look for signs of damaged wires, loose connectors or corrosion especially fuse 10.

Sorry gents been busy. So the tech authority steps point me towards the junction block as well. I will look around for one. I would gladly pay shipping and for the part. I wouldnt feel right taking it for free. But let me know man. I can PayPal over to you. You guys are awesome.

Under the driver's footwell area, just to left of the steering wheel shaft. Drop the knee block cover for easy access (see pictures in link below).

Info: http://wkjeeps.com/wk_fuses.htm

The large connectors (C1 and C2 ?) sometimes come loose on mine. Check them for tight connection.

Seeing this thread pop up, mine does the same thing as well as the locks going crazy. Already assumed the junction block was on it's way out. I also noticed the top connector doesn't want to snap locked with the handle, could that be the main cause instead of the actual block or could that have caused the block to go bad? I assume that I need to fix/replace that connector when I do the block. Any idea if fixing or replacing that wiring harness is doable without ripping the whole dash out? Thanks.

I removed my top connector yesterday and there is some slack do work on it, if needed. It will be tight but i think it will be doable.

Follow up to my post, also experiencing U0159 (park assist) and U0241 (High beams).

I used Alfaobd and cleared all the codes, did a battery disconnect while I inspected the IPM and power distribution bloc, and internal junciton block. Codes all have not returned (yet).

Johnnie - did you ever find a fix for this issue? I also own a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK and the intermittent A/C outages have become nearly unbearable in the southern heat. As a matter of fact, I've noticed the airbag / AC issue occurs more frequently when either (i) the car has been baking in the heat / sun and (ii) when it is very humid outside. I almost never experience the airbag / AC issue during the fall / winter months.

Hooked up the scanner today and see all three of the same codes from before; B212D, U0159, U0241.

What's new is the airbag code is only under the "ORC-Airbag/Occupant Restraint Module.

The U0159 and U0241 shows up under multiple modules: MIC/CCN Mechanical Instrument Cluster, DDM-Driver Door Module, EOM Electronic Overhead, CGW Central Gateway, HSM Heated Seat Module, MSM Memory Seat/Memory Heated Seat, and PDM Passenger Door Modules.

U0159 shows up also under the RADIO-Radio module.

Not sure what all of this means yet, but going by the freeze frame data all of the codes set at the same time. The Jeep had been setting in the sun for a few days.

Huge thanks for the detailed response, Johnnie. Please keep me posted if you look into this any further or come closer to a fix.

I've contacted a handful of shops claiming to do good electrical work, but diagnosing this alone will run $300-400+, not even considering the problem can't be reproduced on command.

Has anyone figured out this yet? I have an 08 commander! Airbag light comes on and off when it wants too (no matter what season) heat/ac, and compass doesn’t work while it’s on. I thought at first maybe the clock spring is bad. I have not replaced it yet. I was talking to someone on a commander fb page that said with the hvac motor not working that to him it’s a dead giveaway that I have bad wiring in my drivers door. So just curious if any of you guys checked that? I recently hit a deer with mine and insurance totaled it, but debating on buying it back and fixing it.
